Associate in Culinary Arts

If work in a restaurant, catering service or dining hall is on your menu, serve up a delicious career for yourself with Gateway’s Culinary Arts associate degree. Our hands-on training in a state-of-the-art kitchen under the direction of an expert chef will prepare you with skills in purchasing, food prep, sanitation and dining room operation. From the kitchen to the accounting books, you’ll get a full taste of every aspect of restaurant operations.

Culinary Arts places emphasis on food purchasing, specialty food preparation, dining room operation, and quantity food preparation sanitation. In addition to the business aspects of restaurant operations, this program includes extensive hands-on preparation of different foods. Students completing the program are certified in sanitation and qualified for employment as cafeteria managers, restaurant cooks, concession managers, and specialty cooks.

This program is also available on a part-time basis.

Admission requirements

Students must meet one of the following: minimum high school GPA of 2.6, minimum college GPA of 2.0, or complete valid reading, writing, and math placement assessments.
