Program description
Bachelor of Business in International Tourism Management (L7)
This award will prepare you for many of the business roles available in the tourism industry. You will develop skills appropriate to both operational and supervisory management levels.
The program will also develop entrepreneurial skills to facilitate new business start-ups and, in today’s economic climate, these skills will prove invaluable upon graduation.
The integrated work placement in Year 1 and Year 2 allows you to experience at first hand the challenges, demands and rewards of working in this exciting and ever-changing industry. In addition, students of this program do extensive training in Guiding where they qualify as a ‘Regional Tour Guide’, a certificate awarded by Fáilte Ireland.
Admission requirements
The minimum Leaving Certificate entry requirement for all higher certificates (Level 6) and ab initio bachelor degrees (Level 7) programs is Grade O6/H7 or better in five Leaving Certificate subjects including Mathematics and English or Irish with a minimum of 160 point.
English Language Requirements
- Non-EU applicants: Non-EU applicants, who are not English speakers, must have a minimum score of 6.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS - Academic) or equivalent
- EU applicants: EU applicants, who are not English speakers, are recommended to have a minimum score of 6.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS - Academic) or equivalent.

Continuing studies
Level 7 graduates may progress to the final year of the Bachelor of Business (Honours) in International Tourism Management.
Career opportunities
Graduates of this program work in the following types of businesses: visitor attractions, tourism agencies, transport operators, visitor information centres, festival and event management, hospitality operations in Ireland and overseas. Many graduates also set up and run their own successful tourism businesses as the program provides a foundation for the development of entrepreneurial activities. The inclusion of modern European languages will also aid students’ ability to travel as well as enhancing employment opportunities.
