The International Bachelor Communication and Media (IBCoM) at Erasmus University takes a comparative, international approach to communication and media studies. The IBCoM programme is taught exclusively in English to a diverse student body from all corners of the world. With extensive opportunities for international exchanges and internships, IBCoM is an excellent stepping stone to advanced studies or a career in communications and related fields.
Another distinctive feature is our "IBCoMmunity". Interaction and connection between students is what makes IBCoM thrive as a programme. Your fellow students now will be your colleagues in the future. Therefore, IBCoM aims to be more than just an educational programme; it provides its students with opportunities to make friends, build professional networks, achieve personal growth, and develop their knowledge and skills in communication by engaging with all kinds of people and a variety of viewpoints.
Students who are proficient in English (see below) and who hold any of the following diplomas are welcome to apply:
- The Dutch VWO diploma: you can apply with any of the four profiles 6 VWO: Economy and Society, Culture and Society; Nature and Health, Nature and Technology.
- A diploma from the first year of a four-year Dutch HBO programme (proficiency in Mathematics at the VWO level is required).
- An international Baccalaureate (IB) diploma including Maths Standard Level or Maths Higher Level (for Maths Studies, a score of 5 or higher is required).
- A European Baccalaureate (EB) diploma including Mathematics (3 hours).
- Another secondary or high school diploma equivalent to the Dutch VWO diploma and including English and Mathematics, such as the German Abitur.

Communication and Media has thus become a vital and rewarding field of study, that will help you understand contemporary global society and to function successfully within it.
