International Bachelor Communication and Media

Explore the world of media and its political, economic, and cultural impact. Pursue opportunities for international exchange, and go on to advanced studies or a top-flight career in media and communications.

The International Bachelor Communication and Media (IBCoM) at Erasmus University takes a comparative, international approach to communication and media studies. The IBCoM programme is taught exclusively in English to a diverse student body from all corners of the world. With extensive opportunities for international exchanges and internships, IBCoM is an excellent stepping stone to advanced studies or a career in communications and related fields.

Another distinctive feature is our "IBCoMmunity". Interaction and connection between students is what makes IBCoM thrive as a programme. Your fellow students now will be your colleagues in the future. Therefore, IBCoM aims to be more than just an educational programme; it provides its students with opportunities to make friends, build professional networks, achieve personal growth, and develop their knowledge and skills in communication by engaging with all kinds of people and a variety of viewpoints.

Admission requirements

Students who are proficient in English (see below) and who hold any of the following diplomas are welcome to apply:

  • The Dutch VWO diploma: you can apply with any of the four profiles 6 VWO: Economy and Society, Culture and Society; Nature and Health, Nature and Technology.
  • A diploma from the first year of a four-year Dutch HBO programme (proficiency in Mathematics at the VWO level is required).
  • An international Baccalaureate (IB) diploma including Maths Standard Level or Maths Higher Level (for Maths Studies, a score of 5 or higher is required).
  • A European Baccalaureate (EB) diploma including Mathematics (3 hours).
  • Another secondary or high school diploma equivalent to the Dutch VWO diploma and including English and Mathematics, such as the German Abitur.

Full tuition price for local/native students (e.g. EU students) is 2,168 EUR.

Full tuition price for international students (e.g. non-EU students) is 7,500 EUR.

It has transformed international relations and business opportunities, but also citizenship and democracy, cognition and culture, as well as people's personal and working lives. Communication and Media has thus become a vital and rewarding field of study, that will help you understand contemporary global society and to function successfully within it.
