The Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC) is one of the schools of the Erasmus University Rotterdam. ESHCC hosts the departments of History, Arts and Culture Studies, and Media & Communication. ESHCC offers high-quality education, based on academic research, at the interface between the Humanities and the Social Sciences. We educate our ambitious international students in a stimulating learning environment. After having completed their studies, our students have acquired knowledge, insight and skills that enable them to make an important and inspiring contribution to a society that is becoming increasingly more international and in which diversity plays a major role.


ESHCC’s research focuses on the following areas:

  • Conflict and Social-Economic Order.
  • Cultural Entrepreneurship and Creative Industries.
  • Identities, Representation, and Society.
  • Production and Reception of Media and Culture.

Besides guaranteeing a high quality study programme and an internationally recognised degree, Erasmus university offers you a good time. It’s safe and everything is close by. Campuses

The hub of Erasmus University Rotterdam is our Woudestein campus, which is a 15-minute bike ride or 20-minute tram ride away from the city centre. Accommodation

We know this can be a surprise and a struggle for some of you.

The EUR reserved spots for about 25% of our yearly incoming international Bachelor, Master or exchange students. Which means we have at this moment about 800 reserved rooms. At his moment we have a partnership with the companies SSH, XIOR and the Fizz Cobana.
