After having laid the groundwork in the first two years in economics, business economics and quantitative courses, you can choose from a variety of elective courses and specializations in your third year. Of course, we honor the name of this program by encouraging you to explore international perspectives and take classes abroad.

Admission requirements

Applicants must show proficiency in the English language as all communication within the program is in English. All applicants must demonstrate this by means of a certified Academic TOEFL or Academic IELTSTest Score Report, taken no longer than 2 years before the day of application to the Erasmus School of Economics.

Program content

Year one: laying the groundwork

The International Bachelor Economics and Business Economics, concentrates on worldwide issues related to economics and business. Your first year is divided into five blocks of eight weeks. Each block consists of three courses: one economics course, one course in business economics and one (or more) support course(s) or skills training.

Subjects range from marketing to mathematics, and accounting to organisation and strategy. In separate sessions, led by a student mentor, you will work on your skills in studying, presentation, writing and debating.

Years two and three: adding breadth and depth to knowledge, skills and experience

Your second year is again structured around three disciplines. You will deepen your knowledge of the subjects introduced in the first year. You will also be introduced to several new subjects like international economics, finance and economics of ageing. Not just in theory: all courses consist of lectures as well as assignments in small-scaled work groups.

In your third and final year the choice is yours. You will pick your major and have the chance to add more breadth to your studies with electives and a minor. Now is also the time to do an internship or take part in an exchange programme at one of our many partner universities abroad.

Tuition fees

Bachelor programmes

  • EU: EUR 2.060
  • Non-EU: 9.000

Studying in a foreign country can be very expensive. Fortunately, the Dutch government subsidizes higher education which leads to lower tuition fees for students with a nationality from a country belonging to the European Economic Area (EEA). In recent years, more and more students from outside the EEA have decided to study in the Netherlands, resulting in a growing demand for academic scholarships. Below you can find the few scholarships that might be applicable to you.

Erasmus Education Fund

Every academic year, the Erasmus Education Fund (EEF) supports several students with a scholarship of 3000 euro's per year. The EEF is only for excellent students who need provable financial support. Students may apply by following the application procedure for the EEF.

Erasmus School of Economics Student Waiver for excellent students from non-EEA countries

The Erasmus School of Economics has created a separate fund to support excellent students. The maximum award of the waiver consists of a tuition fee waiver for the year 2016-2017. Resulting in a tuition fee equal to the statutory fee. Current or prospective students who are awarded this waiver will therefore not themselves directly receive a sum of money.

Holland Scholarship Erasmus University

The Holland Scholarship is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences. The scholarship is meant for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who want to do their bachelor’s or master’s in Holland. The scholarship amounts to €5,000.
