public relationsThe Public Relations MA degree at DMU is designed for students who want to gain the academic, professional and creative knowledge essential for a successful public relations career.

Public Relations is a rapidly-expanding profession with excellent career prospects. However, competition for jobs is fierce, which means that a comprehensive knowledge of public relations theory and practice, coupled with an awareness of the key issues in this developing industry, are essential to secure a coveted position in one of the 21st Century's most dynamic and exciting occupations.

Students work in groups, deliver presentations, challenge and discuss ideas with their tutors and motivate themselves to study many hours outside of the classroom. You are taught through lectures, seminars, workshops and self-directed study (for instance, reading and researching both in the University library and online). Work is assessed by essays, exams, projects, portfolios and oral presentations.

Admission requirements

Students wishing to study Public Relations MA should meet the following requirements:

  • The equivalent of a UK Bachelor's degree (2:1 minimum) in a relevant subject and be able to demonstrate a commitment to a career in public relations - We are happy to consider equivalent qualifications from anywhere in the world.
  • If you have no formal academic qualifications but do have extensive industry experience we will consider your application on an individual basis.
  • If English is not your first language an IELTS score of 6.0-6.5 or equivalent when you start the course is essential. English language tuition, delivered by our British Council-accredited Centre for English Language Learning, is available both before and throughout the course if you need it.

  • £9500 (overseas students)
  • £3560 (Home and EU students).
