Top-up BA in Product Development and Integrative Technology

Would you like to play a role when businesses develop new products or implement new technologies in production? With a BA in Product Development & Integrative Technology, your job will be to look to the future and to challenge existing solutions. At the same time, you must be able to argue in favor of your choices, and help to successfully manage processes from idea to finished product.

In the programme, you learn to apply your professional expertise, and you learn to interact with other disciplines to address and resolve issues and problems in the best possible way. Both you and your fellow students have earned Academic Professional diplomas from business academies, and together you must integrate your various backgrounds and expertise into your project work during the programme.

The focus of the teaching activities are on problem-oriented project work and on the learning to be achieved through your work with concrete problems and issues defined by you and your fellow students, or which you have defined in cooperation with a company.

The programme provides you with analytical, methodological and practical skills that enable you to integrate and manage product development processes in technical fields. Products developed in this program may be physical products, concepts or technical services.

After completing the programme, you will find your professional niche at the nexus point of overlapping fields of expertise involved in developing new products, and you will stand out as the one with the skills to communicate, present and integrate the different fields of expertise in various product development activities, ultimately resulting in the an optimum and future-proof product for consumers and users.

The BA programme in Product Development & Integrative Technology is a top-up programme for the academy profession educational programmes within installation, automation, energy, product development/production and IT Network/Electronics.

Admission requirements

The following AP degree programmes qualify for admission:

  • Service Engineering
  • Power Current Engineering
  • Energy Technology
  • Automations Technology
  • IT Technology
  • Production Technology and other relevant AP degrees

A small part of the education is divided in 3 separate programmes depending on your qualifying AP:

  • Development of products and production (AP Graduate in Production Technology)
  • Automation and Service Engineering (AP Graduate in Service Engineering, automation and energy technology)
  • IT Network and Electronics Technology (AP Graduate in IT Technology)

In order for the 3 separate programmes to be formed, there have to be enough applicants with the above mentioned qualifications.

All applicants must have passed English at a level equivalent to a Danish Upper Secondary education B-level.

Equivalents to Danish B-level in English:

  • IELTS (academic test): 6.5 or
  • TOEFL (paper-based): 550 or
  • TOEFL (internet-based): 83 or
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency (CPE)
  • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) with the grade C
  • Cambridge First Certificate with the grade A

Program content

During the first two semesters (5th and 6th semesters), you are introduced to the theory of the discipline and learn about necessary methods and tools etc., for example, in connection with ideation and project management. During the last semester (7th semester), you will  take an internship and write your bachelor project.

As a student in the programme, you must complete the following obligatory elements:

  • Theoretical Product Development
  • Professional Product Development and Design
  • Interdisciplinary Product Development and Design
  • Sustainability in Product Development

The obligatory elements are largely based on project work, and as part of the teaching activities, you and your fellow students will learn more about technological project work, theory of science and methods as well as integrative technology.

Tuition fees

Tuition fees:

  • Nordic/EU/EEA students are free of charge
  • Non-EU citizens must pay a tuition fee of € 5,600 per semester

There is no fee for following students: 

  • Students from the European Union (EU)
  • Students from EEA countries (Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland)
  • Students from Switzerland
  • Students who are granted permanent residency or time-limited permit with the possibility of permanent residence in Denmark
  • Students exchanged with Danish students as part of a bilateral agreement with an educational institution abroad
  • Students who are granted residence permit under §9c, paragraph 1 of the Aliens Act as the accompanying child of a foreigner with a residency permit issued under pursuant to section 9a of the Aliens Act


Bachelor Degree in Product Development and Integrative Technology.

The top-up Bachelor's takes 1½ years and are for students who have already completed an AP degree programme or similar. By completing an AP degree programme and the top-up programme, you will obtain a Bachelor’s degree. You will be awarded 90 ECTS points for a BA top-up programm
