BA in Jewellery, Technology and Business
The focus of the 3 ½-year programme is jewellery, technology and business and you will obtain a cross-disciplinary understanding of how to produce/create jewellery using modern technology. We generally focus on how jewellery is conceptualized, produced, marketed and sold nationally/domestically and internationally.
The programme puts particular emphasis on preparing you to start your own company within the jewellery industry/business – also in an international perspective.
You will be working with jewellery design, product development, business, aesthetics, materials, concepts, trends, cultural understanding, innovation, marketing, and value and supply chains. In short, you will gain knowledge about the entire process from idea to sold jewellery product.
Starting from the value and supply chain, you will learn how to analyze the financial market sustainability of the jewellery concepts and to optimize production and logistics processes.
You will learn to plan, manage and carry out complex processes resulting in innovative and creative possible solutions to challenges within jewellery production. We pay particular attention to functionality, Emotional Design, sustainability and choice of material in relation to the form and aesthetics of jewellery.
On the programme, we also focus strongly on Wearable Technology, makers Movement and The Quantified Self in relation to the technological jewellery industry of the future. You will learn to work with e.g. 3D print, prototypes and production regarding both unique jewellery specimens and mass production.
The programme is only offered once every other year in english. The international programme is offered in 2020.
An upper secondary education or equivalent, or a vocational education is required.
All applicants must have passed English at a level equivalent to a Danish Upper Secondary education B-level.
Equivalents to Danish B-level in English:
- IELTS (academic test): 6.5 or
- TOEFL (paper-based): 550 or
- TOEFL (internet-based): 83 or
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency (CPE)
- Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) with the grade C
- Cambridge First Certificate with the grade A

During your studies, you will be in close contact with the business community. Thus, the Jewellery, Technology and Business programme allows you to get extremely close to the sector or industry in which you would like to work once you have finished your studies.
You will be cooperating with companies as part of the teaching and you and your fellow students will be solving specific problems and cases presented by the companies. Thus, already as a student, you get the opportunity to test your competencies in practice and gain valuable work experience in the industry.
In addition, you will be visiting Danish and international companies and educational institutions, e.g. in connection with study trips, internship and exchange stays.
You also have the opportunity to collaborate with the business community in connection with your final project. Thus, already as a student on Jewellery, Technology and Business, you establish a practical connection with the industry in which you will work once you graduate.
- Nordic/EU/EEA students are free of charge
- Non-EU citizens must pay a tuition fee of € 5,500 per semester
There is no fee for following students:
- Students from the European Union (EU)
- Students from EEA countries (Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland)
- Students from Switzerland
- Students who are granted permanent residency or time-limited permit with the possibility of permanent residence in Denmark
- Students exchanged with Danish students as part of a bilateral agreement with an educational institution abroad
- Students who are granted residence permit under §9c, paragraph 1 of the Aliens Act as the accompanying child of a foreigner with a residency permit issued under pursuant to section 9a of the Aliens Act
Bachelor's degree in Jewellery Technology & Business
As a Bachelor in Jewellery, Technology and Business, you will be able to work on many different assignments within production, design and sale of jewellery. You can both design your own jewellery or develop concepts for other people’s jewellery. You can work with sale and marketing or assist in the technological part of the production. You may also work as a consultant or an advisor.
The programme puts a special emphasis on enabling you to start your own business within the industry – also in an international perspective.
As a Bachelor in Jewellery, Technology and Business, you must be ready to adapt since fashion changes every season. Old materials replace the new ones while, at the same time, retro waves sweep over the market.
