Sport Science (with Foundation Year)

This broad ranging course is uniquely designed to help you realise these dreams.
The BSc Sport Science with Foundation Year program combines a foundation year with the three year Honours Degree to create an integrated four year program. The program provides an excellent introduction to studying a science subject at university and will provide you with the knowledge, skills and confidence required to study at degree-level. The with Foundation Year program is ideal for applicants who do not quite meet the entry requirements for the three year degree or who would benefit from further a further year’s study in relation to studying a science subject.
Successful completion of the Foundation Year will see you progress to Year 1 of the Sport Science program.
For 2020 Entry:
GCSE: grade C/4 in Maths required. Typical offer is based on a minimum 48 tariff points from Level 3 qualification e.g.

The Foundation Year component of the program is designed to prepare you for degree-level study. You will study a range of modules focused on your developing your academic skills and subject-specific knowledge, ahead of progressing to Year 1 of the program. You will complete modules focusing on IT and Communication Skills, Essential Mathematics and develop a range of skills through a subject specific research project. In addition, you will complete modules on Essential Biology and Computer Science.
Year 1 and 2 of the program aim to consolidate and deepen your knowledge and widen skills base. The aim of the third year is to further develop your critical understanding of the subject and to further enhance your employability.
With the addition of our sport and exercise specific employability programs and placements you have the opportunity to make yourself stand out from the crowd with a degree from one of the ‘original’ schools of sport science in the UK.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will earn a BSc (Hons).
This Sports Science degree course is ideal preparation for careers in sport science, research, fitness/leisure management, sports administration, coaching and instruction, sports development, sports therapy/physiotherapy, teaching, the armed or emergency services, sports journalism, youth work and management consultancy.
All our courses will prepare you for a career as a sport scientist, working with squads of elite athletes and performers to fine tune their training; sport science research; working in the public health sector, for example in sports therapy or physiotherapy; or working in the health/fitness industry generally. Postgraduate study and a career in teaching (after completing a postgraduate certificate of education), research and lecturing is another vocational route.
Some School of Sport, Health and Exercise Science graduates simply use their academic qualification and the transferable skills that they have developed to work in management, the emergency services or to set up their own business.
