About this program
Modern Languages and History
On this Program you will study History alongside a language (Chinese, French, German, Italian or Spanish, from beginners or advanced level). You'll develop written and oral skills and will learn about cultural aspects, including national histories. You can choose from a range of topics from medieval to contemporary history. This joint course History will impart a solid knowledge of different nations in a variety of historical periods, equipping you with transferable skills highly sought after by employers.
All language modules include written skills (e.g. translation and essay writing) and oral skills taught by a native speaker.
Optional modules in Modern Languages allow you to gain insight into the cinema, literature, history, and culture of the country whose language you are studying. The modules available in History will sit well alongside Modern Languages modules, and enable you to focus on a wide variety of time periods, geographical areas and themes. This will enable you to follow modules that focus on the history of Wales, Britain, and Europe, as well as that of other areas.
