Vice-Chancellor Scholarships
Available for all undergraduate and postgraduate courses starting in September 2020
Scholarship Amount
- Undergraduate: Valued at 50% of the Tuition Fee for Year 1, and up to £3,000 per year for Year 2 & 3*
- Postgraduate: Valued at 50% of the Tuition Fee
*Note: Undergraduate students may continue to receive the scholarship in Years 2 and 3, subject to achieving a minimum overall grade of 70% or above at the end of Year 1 and 2.
Eligibility
The Vice-Chancellor scholarship is for outstanding international applicants, so the applicants must have achieved:
- Undergraduate: Grades equivalent of GCE A-level A grade students
- Postgraduate: Equivalent of a UK 1st class Bachelors degree

Submit your scholarship application on or before 15 May 2020.
Deans Scholarships
Available for all courses starting in September 2020 and January 2021 intakes
Scholarship Amount
- Undergraduate: £4,000 for Year 1, and up to £2,000 per year for Year 2 & 3*
- Postgraduate: Up to £5,000Research/PhD£4,000 for Year 1, and up to £2,000 per year for Year 2 & 3*
*Note: Year 2 and 3 awards will be dependant on Undergraduate students achieving an overall average grade of 70% or higher in Years 1 and 2 (respectively) or for Research/PhD students successfully progressing into the next academic year.
Eligibility
The Deans scholarship is an academic merit based scholarship so the applicant must have achieved:
- Undergraduate: Grades equivalent of GCE A-level A grade students
- Postgraduate: Equivalent of a UK 1st class Bachelors degree
- Research/PhD: Equivalent of a UK 1st class degree and/or equivalent of a Distinction at UK Masters’ level
International Scholarships
Available for all courses starting in September 2020 and January 2021 intakes
Scholarship Amount
- Undergraduate: Up to £3,000 for Year 1, and up to £1,000 per year for Year 2 & 3*
- Postgraduate: Up to £3,000
- Research/PhD: Up to £3,000 for Year 1, and up to £1,000 per year for Year 2 & 3*
*Note: Year 2 and 3 awards will be dependant on Undergraduate students achieving an overall average grade of 50% or higher in Years 1 and 2 (respectively) or for Research/PhD students successfully progressing into the next academic year.
Eligibility
A number of criteria will be taken into account when awarding this scholarship including Course Choice, Academic Performance, Personal Statement, Academic References, Skills and Experience. The scholarships will be awarded entirely at the University’s discretion.

Candidates who are fully sponsored by a third party will not be entitled to these Scholarships. The above scholarships are not open to UK/EU applicants. The above scholarships are available for full-time on-campus courses only. All scholarships will be awarded entirely at the University’s discretion.

Student services & facilities
Peer Guides & Personal Tutors
The Peer Guide scheme and the Personal Tutor system mean that there is always another student or academic member of staff that you can turn to. Peer Guides are second and third year students who are trained to help new students settle-in to university life. Every student is assigned a Personal Tutor, who is a member of staff in your academic school.
Student Services
The Student Services Centre provides a professional support service for students. The services offered include money advice, health and welfare support, advice on private housing, dyslexia support and counselling.
Disability Support
There is also a dedicated Disability team to provide advice and guidance on a range of disability-related matters.
Study Skills
The University's Study Skills Centre offers one to one appointments, workshops and learning resources to help develop the skills needed to succeed at university. The Centre offers help with academic writing, maths and statistics, presentations, reading and research.

What’s on offer?
The Students’ Union offers a wide range of student-run clubs and societies – there are around 200 to choose from!
Sport Clubs
The various sport clubs give you an opportunity to train, compete and socialise with fellow club members. You can get involved with traditional sports such as football, rugby, netball and hockey or try something new like quidditch, canoe-polo or sub-aqua!
Societies
The are societies that will compliment your academic studies, such as the Law Society, the Geographical Society; religious societies such as the Christian Union and the Islamic Society and societies to compliment your hobbies and interests like comedy, cooking, photography and drama.
Student membership is free of charge!
Accommodation
We guarantee a room in our halls of residence to all first-year undergraduates who hold Bangor as their Firm Choice and apply before the given deadline.
Our accommodation is self-catered and the majority of our halls are en-suite. All our halls are within walking distance of the main University buildings and city centre.
