Program description

Associate Degree in Inclusive Education and Disability Studies

This course is for students who want a career in disability or human service management. It’s one of the few opportunities to take a university course in this area.

This associate degree also acts as a pathway course into the Bachelor of Inclusive Education and Disability Studies for those who don’t currently meet the entry requirements.

Students will develop a holistic view of disability and the social structures that influence learning and development for people with special needs. This includes areas such as:

  • social justice and empowerment
  • advocacy
  • the influence of disability on learning
  • social dynamics and positive behavior support.

Students can tailor the course to their interests by selecting topics in assessment tasks, fieldwork components and the selection of specialization subject units.

The majority of assessments are assignment or project based to help integrate practice and theory.

Career paths

Graduates are able to pursue a career path in disability service provision, management and specialization in a number of areas including:

  • accommodation support
  • respite support
  • employment support
  • transition to work and community participation programs
  • advocacy and information services
  • policy development

Admission requirements

Essential requirements for admission

Applicants require the equivalent of Australian Year 12 certificate and an IELTS overall score of 6.5,and an individual score of 6.0 in all tests .

  • English language proficiency.
