Program description
For pre-school or primary teachers with English as a second language, TESOL Course for Non-native Speaker Teachers of English: AEA TESOL is an intensive 5-week course for non-native English speakers who wish to teach English to pre- and primary-school-aged children in their home country. The course is interactive and practical covering topics such as: child development, lesson stages and the use of songs, games and stories. Students make resources such as flashcards, storybooks and worksheets and give presentations in the TESOL classrooms, as well as mini-lessons at kindergartens and primary schools. Gain: Tesol course certificate; J-shine (Optional – for Japanese student only). Be able to: Work as a language teacher or assistant language teacher in your country. Learn: Theory and practice of teaching English to young learners, How to plan a lesson, How to teach reading, writing, listening and speaking, How to engage young learners, How to teach using songs, games and activities, How to make and use teaching resources. Learn by: Working in groups, pairs and individually, Participating in teacher led activities, Reading articles and completing worksheets, Watching model lessons, Developing your own resources, Teaching practice lessons to your classmates, Teaching children in an early childhood centre.
