Program description

Foundation Degree Horticulture

The Horticulture foundation degree programme is taught by Askham Bryan College's Department of Horticulture.

This foundation degree course is designed for students wishing to become first-line managers for the horticultural industry. The structure of the Horticulture foundation degree is vocationally based and provides a balance of practical work and scientific study.

This two year course focuses on the production and marketing of plants; from propagation to the raising of plants for the market or use in the landscape. Both years incorporate relevant work experience.

This degree is validated and awarded by Harper Adams University College.

Upon successful completion of the Horticulture foundation degree students can pursue the BSc (Hons) Sustainable Land Management programme and obtain their Honours Degree after only one additional year of study. Alternatively, graduates can work in local park departments, nurseries, botanical gardens and production nurseries (including nursery stock, bedding plant production and herbaceous nurseries).
