Learn to Address International and Intercultural Challenges of Our Time

BA degreeThe B.A. in International Relations program offers students a modern, interdisciplinary education in international relations that builds on knowledge of theoretical and philosophical concepts across historical contexts in order to help students better understand politics internationally as well as domestically.

The curriculum offers a balanced mix of courses on political and international relations theory, economics, philosophy, and history.

Students acquire the ability to critically examine and address international and intercultural challenges of our time such as global inequality, economic dependency, conflict and security, and the evolving roles of organizations such as the United Nations, NATO, and the European Union. The curriculum is further complemented by a range of skills-oriented courses on writing, research and languages.

Graduates of the BA in International Relations can expect to:

  • Confidently articulate and express specific issues of international relations in areas of security, conflict resolution, human rights and culture in writing as well as in public speech
  • Have basic fluency in French, German or the Russian language
  • Uphold civic responsibility
  • Identify underlying ethical dilemmas of international problems and resourcefully structure debate to reach a solution with respect to civil society, colleagues, and opponents

    Merit-Based Scholarships and Financial Aid

The best students at AAU can study for free! Your GPA is calculated cumulatively from the beginning of your studies at AAU. To be eligible for the merit-based scholarship, you must have already completed two full-time semesters and have taken at least 4 courses the previous semester. Typically, over 11% of our degree-seeking students receive this scholarship and it may range from 10% to 100% of your tuition covered depending on your GPA.

Financial aid is also available in the form of manageable installments of tuition, as well as the opportunity to work at AAU while you study.

Graduates receive a dual-accredited Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations with both the Czech "Bc." and the American "B.A." on their diplomas. This is not a dual degree and only one of the two versions may be used as a title.
