Master of Science in Terrorism & Homeland Security Policy
The Master of Science in Terrorism & Homeland Security Policy at AU’s School of Public Affairs will train you to tackle the problems of terrorism and other threats that endanger the security of the United States. You’ll approach security issues informed by social science, with attention to the perspectives of criminology and criminal justice. Our program emphasizes development of strategic, policy-based security solutions at federal, state, and local levels of government.
Admission requirements
In addition to meeting the minimum university requirements for graduate study, non-AU applicants must submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) test scores. AU applicants with GPAs less than 3.20 must also submit GRE test scores.

English Language Proficiency Requirement
A minimum grade point average of 3.0 in all coursework is required to remain in good standing and to earn the degreeEnglish proficiency test scores are valid for two years; scores more than two years old are not accepted. We strongly recommend that international applicants arrange to take the TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, or DET at least one month prior to the application deadline. Be sure to inform us if the name on your application is different from the name on your score report. Applicants should follow the direction offered in the table below for submission of official score report(s). Unofficial scores will not be considered for admission consideration. Applicants must meet or exceed the following minimum test thresholds for English proficiency:
- IELTS, minimum score of 7.0
- TOEFL, minimum score of 100
- TOEFL Essentials, minimum score of 10
- PTE, minimum score of 68
- DUOLINGO, minimum score of 120
