Program description

Study a Higher Certificate in Film, Television, and Entertainment Production in South Africa

This 1-year foundation course is intended to provide students entree into the first year of undergraduate degree studies at AFDA.

This is an exit level Higher Certificate that is designed to teach students the craft, technical, attitudinal and aesthetic skills that will prepare them to participate in internship opportunities and be placed in an assortment of positions in the entertainment industry.This program is also available for international students who want to improve their English skills while learning.

The Higher Certificate offers two streams to choose from and runs for one year full-time:

  • Production and the Art Department (Introductions to production co-ordination, art department, wardrobe make – up and styling and stage management).
  • Technical (Introductions to camera, grips, lighting, multi-cam studio and stage rigging).

Admission requirements

Applicants wishing to enter the program should meet the following requirements:

  • The minimum entry requirement is a National Certificate. (Matric) OR the student may write an Entrance Exam at AFDA (View RPL Process).
