About this program

MFA Cinematography

Delivered entirely in English, our innovative MFA in Cinematography program at 3iS, trains students in multiple aspects of filmmaking, with a focus on developing a creative vision and acquiring the technical expertise, needed to pursue a career in this field.

Our program consists of lectures, workshops and master classes from industry experts. Students will be able to learn hands-on and benefit from the largest audio-visual campus in Europe: a 300-m2 theater arts stage, a motion capture studio, a 300-seat screening room, and a movie set.

The goal of this program, is to prepare our students for the professional world upon graduating from this program.

Admission requirements

Students holding a Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in literature, filmmaking, or the performing arts although other fields will be considered for admission to the program.

International Applicants

EiS accepts international students who want to study in France on its Filmmaking & TV, Sound, Animation, Video Game, Motion Design, Special Effects and Performing Arts programs.

Students must meet the following admission requirements to be accepted:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Demonstrate sufficient proficiency in French to be able to follow the program (TCF, TEF, or DELF results): Minimum level B2 required for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years.

Program content

Develop Artistic and Technical Skills in Cinematography

This comprehensive curriculum enables Filmmaking students to gain a wide array of skills:

  • Production
  • Sound
  • Editing
  • Directing
  • Lighting
  • Documentary
  • Cinematography
  • Post Production


Develop your artistic and technical skills in areas such as directing, producing, filmmaking and editing. You will learn to write, direct and produce multi-camera studio programs, mainstream movies, series and dramatic short films. With each production, students receive additional training from professionals in filmmaking techniques, editing and post-production. Cinematography students work in teams on productions under professional supervision.


  • Registration fees: 800€
