24 Speech and Language Therapy Degree Programs

Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) help everyone from infants to aging adults overcome communication disorders. Some SLPs work with children in schools to improve their articulation, language, fluency, or voice. Others provide acute care in hospitals for patients with neurological conditions. Still others assist very young children recovering from cleft palates, feeding disorders, or autism spectrum diagnoses.

The MSc in Speech and Language Therapy (Professional Qualification) is offered over two years full-time as a route to qualification for professional practice for applicants who have already attained a degree. The program has approval from the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists.

The course in Speech Therapy aims to train health professionals in possession of the technical and practical skills appropriate to the best professional practice. At the end of the training course, the Speech Therapist will have acquired specific knowledge and content, professional skills and abilities, together with relational skills that will be expressed in the rehabilitative and preventive intervention of communication and language pathologies in childhood, adulthood and geriatric age.

The study cycle aims to create a Masters of excellence in Speech therapy. The principal aim is to develop advanced competencies in the assessment and intervention of children and adults with speech, language, communication and swallowing disorders. The master has three paths:

Our program is designed with a strong emphasis on clinical practice, offering hands-on applications and clinical practicums in both classroom and laboratory settings. Graduates earn the title of “Speech and Language Therapist” upon completion.

This MSc is an accredited professional programme leading to qualification as a speech and language therapist (SLT). The programme integrates theory with work-based clinical placements with adults and children with a range of communication and swallowing difficulties. As a result, many of our students are offered jobs very soon after completing the course and graduates from our course are highly regarded by employers.

Speech and language therapists (SLTs) enjoy a rewarding, specialist career working with parents, teachers, carers, nurses, doctors and occupational therapists. Almost one in five experience communication difficulties and this is where SLTs support people to develop, restore, or give strategies to build communication.
