This programme will develop students’ understanding of best practices in SEND and inclusive education provision. Students will gain an understanding of local and international SEND provisions, strategies and policies. Additionally, the wider socio-cultural influences on SEND provision, including the influence of cultural and historical context will be explored. Students will be able to evaluate the resources and support required for children with special education needs and disabilities and plan inclusive education in the classroom. Also, students will be able to design, communicate, implement, and manage inclusive provisions for an educational institution. As part of this programme, the student will critically analyze research and evidence in SEND practice, policy, and implementation, and be able to present and explain policy and best practices in inclusive education in local and international contexts. Finally, students will be encouraged to develop leadership and management skills related to SEND coordination, delivery, partnership and management.
