This course is designed to provide general law enforcement professionals with no previous Spanish experience with the tools necessary for interacting with native Spanish speakers. During this 4-week course, students will work through simulated interactions with Spanish speaking patients to acquire the basic linguistic knowledge and skills that will allow them to comfortably tackle these interactions when they return home.

The Spanish Programs provide a sequential course of study that prepares students for transfer to four-year institutions with a Spanish major or acquisition of Spanish proficiency necessary for career fields that emphasize the value of familiarity with diverse cultures and global issues. Students who successfully complete the AA-T in Spanish earn specific guarantees for transfer to the CSU system: admission to a CSU with junior status and priority admission to a CSU campus and to a program or major in Spanish or a similar major. Students transferring to a CSU campus will be required to complete no more than 60 units after transfer to earn a bachelor’s degree.

The degree in Applied Galician and Spanish Philology offers specialized training in the field of Galician and Spanish languages and literature so that people who are studying these studies can apply their knowledge and values to the progress of society through the use of digital tools and a complementary command of modern languages (such as English, French, German or Portuguese).
