    Degrees in Environmental Sciences

Why study an environmental science degree abroad?

With our constantly-changing climate, environmental science is more important than ever. If you are passionate about protecting the earth and all of its ecosystems, studying environmental science might be a great choice for you if you want to make a difference in the world. It’s not all just climate change though--environmental science is a wide discipline that encompasses the study of the natural environment, built environments, social and organizational environments, and all of the relationships in between them. The field is steadily growing, as the effects of human society on the environment around us are becoming more important to our sustainable development.

What are the prerequisites for studying environmental science abroad?

The prerequisites for studying environmental science abroad will vary widely depending on the level of your program. Bachelor’s programs will typically only require a strong high school academic background, though it will be useful to have a solid foundation in biology, chemistry, and physics, including experience in a laboratory. For master’s programs and Ph.D. programs in environmental science, you will typically need a bachelor’s degree in science (though it need not be environmental science) or significant coursework completed in the sciences in lieu of the specific degree. Depending on the focus of the program, you might be expected to conduct research for publication in advanced environmental science degrees, so it’s important to be comfortable in a lab setting.
