Students who earn Clarion University's 120-credit Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging Sciences choose between the radiologic technology or ultrasound (sonography) concentration. Both concentrations are designed as two-plus-two programs. The programs have an academic preparation of two years (60 semester hours of science and general education) at either Venango or Clarion campus. The radiologic technology concentration continues with a two-year program of a clinical study (60 semester hours) at one of six JRCERT-accredited, hospital-based schools of radiologic technology. The ultrasound concentration continues with a two-year program of clinical study in sonography (60 semester hours) at the Great Lakes Institute of Technology. Application to an affiliated clinical site in radiologic technology or sonography typically occurs in the second semester of the sophomore year. Clarion also offers an online degree completion option. This option is restricted to individuals who are already credentialed as radiologic technologists, sonographers, nuclear medicine technologists, radiation therapists, or medical dosimetrists and who have completed a properly-accredited educational program.
