7 Public Health Degree Programs in Mexico

Taking into account the policies of the Institution regarding the permanent updating of educational programs that guarantee the quality of our graduates, the Academic Committee for the Curricular Design of the Master in Public Health, of the UACJ, has worked since January 2015 to specify the efforts and take advantage of the experience obtained by managing to develop a new professional Master's degree, in order to train human resources with innovative capacity in their professional practice, capable of responding to current and future problems posed by public health and that prevail in this border region. Nowadays, Universities must capture and include in their curricula the training of graduates with the needs of society, the challenge involves generating a dynamic postgraduate curriculum in Public Health, capable of recovering and educating interpreting the changes in the fields of public health, so that the education provided has relevance, coherence and transcends time, always thinking and adhering to the current and future requirements of the population, who have stopped acting passively, therefore, demand better health systems. In this order of ideas, the curriculum is the expression of the University-Society link, and society demands public health, an attitude of service that supports open and flexible communication with the community; to work as a team with their peers and other figures of the health team, in addition, to support health analysis and decision-making in new technologies and the application of scientific tools. Education in public health, with an appropriate approach, is a strategy to strengthen the capacity of society, by training professionals who can integrate into the health system and reduce inequities in health, efficiently and effectively. It is considered that the creation of the new Master's program in Public Health is a prevailing and essential condition to comply with the commitments, recommendations, and national and international pronouncements linked to the development objectives, established by the different health and accreditation bodies of the medical education in public health.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE To train professionals in the area of ​​Public Health capable of designing and executing health service programs, of evaluating actions and public health services, considering the biological, social, environmental, and health systems determinants, with the purpose of improving the population health.

The general objective of the program is to ensure that graduates obtain and develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to contribute to the improvement of the health conditions of the population, by performing in an outstanding way as managers and directors of organizations belonging to the health systems, and related to the provision of services, teaching or research, in the areas of Health Services Management, Preventive Dentistry, Health of the Elderly and Community Health.

During the last hundred years, epidemiology has been responsible for identifying health problems in communities, as well as studying the relationship of these events with the causes that generate them. These causes have made it possible to guide solutions through vaccination campaigns, prevention or control of diseases. Epidemiology, considered a fundamental discipline of public health, is in charge of studying the distribution and determinants of events related to the health status of specific populations and the application of this knowledge to the prevention and control of health problems. THE ACADEMIC PROGRAM CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS: THE OCCURRENCE AND DISTRIBUTION OF DISEASES, THE EPIDEMIOLOGICAL RESEARCH DESIGNS AND THE APPLICATION OF THIS KNOWLEDGE IN THE STUDY OF THE POPULATIONS. THIS PROGRAM HAS TWO POSSIBLE AREAS: ÉREAS 1. CLINICAL INVESTIGATION 2. SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH GENERAL PURPOSE To train professionals capable of applying the scientific method in epidemiological research projects, which allows them to study the health problem at the population level, from its identification and description to the analysis and critical interpretation of the results, to contribute to improving health conditions. of the population, all in an ethical way.
