Psychology is a young and growing study with a high probability of development. Career-related to psychology depends on the type of degree. The graduates from psychology most work in all kinds of pollsters, advertising agencies, and general enterprises. In order to be a professional, students should be educated and trained moreover master's degrees. If students get degrees over master's degrees in Korea, the number of clinical/counseling psychologists is highest and they usually work in hospitals, counseling centers, courts, the Military Manpower Administration, and so on. And if students get their master's degrees in criminal psychology, they work in the National Police Agency or prisons. As society rapidly changes while entering the 21st Century, the life of many individuals and families are weakening, and this is leading to social chaos. Hence, Korea Baptist Theological University/Seminary has established the Graduate School of Counseling (Dept. of Counseling Psychology) to contribute to building a bright and healthy church and future society by restoring individuals and families breaking down. If students complete the Counseling Psychology course, they receive the “Master of Culture (counseling and clinical psychology)” degree. And they can acquire a counseling specialist license acknowledged by our graduate school and a specialist license from various organizations including the Korean Association of Christian Counseling & Psychotherapy. Through this, graduates can work as counseling specialists and ministers in churches, counseling centers, hospitals, and schools. The Department of Counseling Psychology at the Graduate School of Counseling, which is a special graduate school with evening classes, can train competent counseling specialists needed in this day and age by providing education centered around systematic, specialized, and practical research.

The Department of Psychology belongs to the Social Science College and opened the bachelor's program in 1980. The Department of Psychology was permitted to establish the master's program by the Ministry of Education in October of 1983. The faculty is made up of seven professors. 26 students have completed the master's program and 19 students are presently enrolled in the program. Various majors are offered to tail the course of study to the student's needs.
