The programs' objectives are to train competent health service providers in psychology to provide assessment and counseling services both in private practice or within a mental health organization or hospital. The program’s curriculum and training core were developed according to the American Psychological Association (APA) accreditation criteria and enhance the pre-required master’s degree in psychology knowledge and competencies acquired in such a program.

Psychology as science seeks to describe and explain all aspects of human thought, feelings, perceptions, and actions. At present, psychological issues appear in different areas, from economic arguments on investor confidence, motivation, and satisfaction of workers, to the concern of Architects for the emotional environment that the construction will project; in addition to why some students learn faster than others; what is the cause of domestic and social violence; In medicine, psychology is important to understand the genesis of a disease or the behavior of a patient that does not collaborate in their improvement. All this and more make us confirm the very important role of the psychologist today, being more aware of our responsibility to the community and society of which we are part. At Columbus University, being a Psychologist has social consequences of such importance that it cannot be viewed only as of the activity of a person who specializes in the knowledge of human behavior; but rather, awareness of himself and his social responsibility.
