The MSc in Psychology (Applied) comprises a broad field of knowledge and enquiry that investigates human learning, cognition, and behaviour through scientific methods, equipping students with integrated qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, multidisciplinary research literacy, and critical thinking to evaluate objectively theories and articulate informed perspectives. 

The new field of behavioral science seeks to understand how humans think and act within their environments and how policies can shape that behavior. For example, research showing the power of default options on decision making has led to the introduction of “opt-out” policies for decisions like becoming an organ donor or contributing to one’s retirement account, leading to marked increases in participation (e.g., millions of newly eligible organ donors). Across many institutions – governmental, educational, and corporate – effective interventions rely on an understanding of human behavior. Behavioral science has been commonly applied to problems in marketing, health science, financial investing, charitable giving, human factors and environmental design, and education.

The school has advanced and complete psychology laboratories, and psychological testing and data analysis software such as SAS, SPSS, AMOS, Mplus, and LisreR Nvivo. It has the largest psychological professional database in Inner Mongolia autonomous region. It also has a full range of psychology academic journals and books, meeting the teaching and research needs of teachers and students

The programme is designed for students who wish to pursue a higher degree in the broad area of applied psychology within a framework of human lifespan development (human cognitive development and human career development) and with a research focus on cognitive development, decision-making, and mental health in the information age. The UTS Master of Clinical Psychology provides students with a practice-based and research-led education in clinical psychology, encompassing on-campus and online learning, on-campus and off-campus clinical placement, and research. The course is delivered in custom-built, state-of-the-art facilities including the on-campus 100 Broadway Clinic.

The Department of Education of ZZU was established in January 2010. Its predecessor was the School of Education of ZZU founded in 2000. Now, the Department of Education offers two undergraduate programs: Pedagogy and Applied Psychology and five postgraduate programs: Basic Psychology, Applied Psychology, Educational Economy & Management, and Career Education. There are one educational technology laboratory and one comprehensive psychology laboratory in the department with total construction area of 1000 square meters. There is one branch library of educational books and materials in the department to meet the learning need of the types of students. It is the educational base of Henan Province. Additionally, this Department also has signed a cooperation agreement with Taiwan Mingchuan University and National Taichung University. Each year, there are more than ten students selected and sent to Taiwan for exchange. There is 40 academic staff in Department of Education, wherein 8 of them have professorship title, 30 of them have Ph.D. degree. Since the establishment of this Department, The Department of Education has placed vital importance on teaching and research. The graduates of the department have played an important role in the education of primary and middle schools in Henan.
