10 Professional Degree Programs in Japan

This degree program meets the needs of good governance required to implement and evaluate policies that effectively solve diverse public problems such as environmental damage, public health, education, national and regional development, welfare reform, and international security.

Two courses of study are offered in the M.A. program: Cultural Studies and Applied Social Sciences. The goal of each is to turn out highly qualified graduates who can deal with the transformations and institutional reforms that are occurring at both the regional and the global levels of current society.

The master’s program consists of five courses: “Biology”, “Biochemistry & Molecular Biology”, “Applied Biosciences”, “Agriculture & Horticulture”, and “Agricultural & Environmental Engineering”.

This division provides education programs focusing on protein sciences and has four main lecture contents that are grappled with in Proteo-Science Center: infections molecular science, photo-life science, molecular life science, and protein function science.

Kyoto, where our university is located, has two faces; it is at once traditional and avant-garde. Our Faculty of Art and Design covers almost all areas, including the fields of fine art, contemporary art, graphic design, animation, manga, film, fashion design, jewelry design, interior design, architecture, landscape architecture, theater, and literature. In addition, we offer research programs in fields such as art production and historical heritage.

The former Graduate School of Social and Cultural Sciences was established in April 2002, which offered a three-year independent, interdisciplinary and comprehensive Doctoral Program based on a wide range of fields given in the Faculty of Letters and the Faculty of Law.

This program aims to create a fresh vision and expression in the diversity of cultural life and change in the social environment. To achieve this, both students and instructors make a continuous effort with self-study. Based on the motivation of each research office, each graduate student makes an annual curriculum plan under discussion with the supervisor. Mid-term, students have an opportunity to present their research and have instructions for further development. Students and their supervisors have opportunities for discussion to deepen the contents of the study.

The School of Science and Technology was established in 1989 with the reorganization of the old School of Engineering, which was founded in 1949.

This course covers: 　•Theories on welfare and systems of the law, techniques of counseling 　•Dealing with the trends and issues of social welfare today 　•Solving the problems on local social welfare co-operating with the local government and people.

Students research, experiment with, and create in various expressive methods and mediums, while considering and researching issues without being limited to traditional art and design frameworks. Rather than producing tangible “things,” they come up with concepts, make plans, and carry them out, resulting in expression. In other words, they study the creative process itself and perform research while focusing on the importance of concepts. The overall research method combines investigation, collection, planning, study, and production (including a thesis).
