Located just north of Seattle, the Edmonds Community College Culinary Arts program is a full-time program that provides hands-on training and skills to begin work, or refine your skills, in the restaurant industry. The program’s curriculum is built around running a restaurant on campus, The College Cafe. Students participate in each station in the restaurant learning classical cooking techniques, its modern application, and global cuisines. Students also have classroom-based coursework that explores cooking methodology, managing restaurants, and culinary aspects of agriculture, health and nutrition.

Located just north of Seattle, the Baking and Pastry Arts program at Edmonds College prepares students for a career in the baking industry. Students can choose to earn a one-year Baking Certificate or a two-year Associate of Technical Arts (ATA) Baking Degree. Students will learn important foundational skills, such as entremet, specialty cakes, plated desserts, tarts, petit fours, French pastries, artisan bread, and viennoiserie. In addition to fulfilling the role of the purchaser, bakery manager, and sous chef, degree students will also create chocolates, confectionery, a wedding cake and an edible showpiece.

The Associate of Arts in Spanish for Transfer provides transfer majors with a strong foundation not only in the four basic language skills (listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking, and writing) but also in the civilization and cultures of Spain and Latin America. Completion of the Spanish: Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) will prepare you to meet minimum lower-division admission requirements (60 transferable units) for transfer to a California State University (CSU)or the University of California (UC). As a result of scientific research, we know that addiction is a disease that affects both the brain and behavior. These discoveries have impacted and improved our understanding of compulsive drug use, enabling us to respond effectively to the problem with scientifically supported psychological interventions. Treatment, recovery, and prevention of addictive behavior have become a global strategy. Guided by Dr. Anna Lembke, the medical director of Addiction Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine and leading activist in the opioid epidemic, the Psychology of Addiction and Recovery online short course from the Stanford Center for Health Education (SCHE), a part of Stanford Medicine, explores the complex relationship between doctors and patients, the science of addiction, and the barriers to successfully addressing drug addiction and dependence at a personal and systemic level. Over the course of six weeks, you’ll evaluate how medications, approaches to psychotherapy, and peer support can enhance recovery, and how scientific evidence can be used to establish innovative addiction treatments. You’ll also explore the neurobiological factors underlying addiction, and how these impact intervention and recovery efforts today.
