This course in 52896WA Advanced Diploma of Civil and Structural Engineering (Materials Testing) prepares students to competently test and select construction materials for a range of projects, including bridges, roads, tunnels, and commercial and domestic structures. Students will become familiar with the attributes of conventional and emerging materials.

Participants in this course will gain a basic knowledge of structural engineering that includes the principles of analysis of structures and their application, the behaviour of materials under loading, the selection of construction materials, and the design fundamentals for Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) and steel structures. The emphasis will be on the determination of the nature and quantum of stress developed under loads, and the way structures offer resistance to it.

Our civil engineering technology program is a hands-on curriculum designed to move you directly into the engineering field in supporting roles as an engineering technician, construction inspector, or land surveyor.

The Civil Engineering programme will enable learners to become involved in the design, construction, and maintenance of residential and industrial buildings and public infrastructures such as bridges, roads, and canals dams.

The Associate in Engineering (AE) degree shall be granted for a planned study program consisting of a minimum of 60 semester hours of credit (SHC) of courses. Within the degree program, the institution shall include opportunities to achieve competence in reading, writing, oral communication, fundamental mathematical skills, and basic computer use.

The Program includes aluminum fabrication and repair, carbon fiber and fiber glass lay ups and repair, Non-Destructive Evaluation (liquid penetrant and eddy current), and refinishing and painting. This Transport Canada approved program provides theory and hands-on training to prepare students for certification by Transport Canada, as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Structures AME-S. 12 months credit towards the 36 months practical work experience required for certification.

The Associate in Occupational Science (A.O.S.) degree program offers core training in the practical aspects of construction and repair of equipment and structures built with steel.
