Develop your content area knowledge and learn to teach science effectively at the elementary level with Brenau University's online K–5 Science Endorsement. This nine-credit hour program can be completed as a standalone credential or incorporated into an education graduate degree. A bachelor's degree, Level 4 teaching certificate and one year of teaching experience are required to apply.

This course is designed to prepare mature students for university level study in a range of disciplines including Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Pharmacy and Environmental Science. If you want to progress onto a science-based programme at Higher Education level, this course will give you the ideal introduction to the subject. In 2022-23, 96.5% of students on our Access diplomas secured offers of university places. This compares with a progression rate of just 55.4% across all Access diploma courses in England and Wales.

Areas of inquiry include: the history and philosophy of science, changes to science and technology over time, and how science works in contemporary contexts; media, design and communication and their relationship with science, including media representations of science; social studies of science and technology, focusing on the use of qualitative and quantitative methods to examine the practice and impact of science and technology. Students acquire an understanding of how science and technology are shaped by social, cultural and political conditions, both historically and in the present and in turn, how science and technology also affect the social, cultural and political contexts of which they are a part. They gain proficiency in applying quantitative and qualitative methods to the study of science and technology; they compare the uses of science and technology and become conversant in the fundamental debates in science and technology studies.

Whether you’re studying stars through a telescope or cells through a microscope, the sciences engage your intellectual curiosity like nothing else. As a general science major, you’ll study at least three of these fields — biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, and psychology — and do advanced work in one of them, plus a year of math. You’ll gain confidence to pursue knowledge and ideas across disciplines, setting you up for professional success. You’ll be well prepared for graduate study in interdisciplinary fields such as biophysics and psychobiology or for a career in teaching, environmental science, medicine, law, or engineering.

This course is specially designed for international students whose first language is not English. It will help you develop an understanding of science and engineering concepts, and provide you with extra academic support to help with admission to undergraduate courses.

The overall aim of this programme, leading to the (Major) award of Higher Diploma is to provide learners with the necessary theoretical and practical skills, knowledge and competence, to gain a comprehensive, strong and specialised, foundation and practical understanding of the area of computing.

A-level programmes are made up of two halves. The first year is called an AS Level. The second year is called an A2. The two halves make up the final A-level grade.
