The Practical Nursing program at Centennial College will offer you the in-depth knowledge, skills, and judgment required in today's complex healthcare environment. The offering also meets competencies that will reflect the evolving and expanding role of the practical nurse as provided by the Nursing Act and the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).

The School of Nursing is a vital component of Riverside City College (RCC) and embraces the mission, values, and traditions of both the RCC District and the College. The School of Nursing prepares quality nursing healthcare providers using a student-centered approach through teaching excellence in an environment conducive to learning. The Vocational Nursing (VN) program prepares individuals to provide general nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse, physician, or dentist, including the collaboration with other professionals and consumers in delivering holistic healthcare.

The Nursing degree at Jamestown Community College prepares you to become a registered nurse. You can pursue careers in patient care, emotional support, and education. Registered nurses work in hospitals, physician’s offices, home healthcare, outpatient clinics, schools, hospice care, rehabilitation facilities, and travel nursing nationally and internationally.

The Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) Certificate program is designed as a non-degree course credit option for nurses with a master’s degree in nursing. This program prepares students to provide primary care to  young adults, adults, and older adults across the continuum of care from wellness to illness, in settings including community health centers and clinics, private medical practices, long-term care facilities, and patient homes.

Our practical nursing students have varied backgrounds: high school graduates, international students, adults aged 21 and over, etc., but all have the same qualities: they are organized, motivated and agile to their hands. All of them are looking for a rewarding, caring job. Autonomous and versatile, auxiliary nursing staff are responsible for a large number of patient care: intravenous, medication calculation, physical examinations, etc. In the healthcare team, their leadership and clinical judgment are essential.

The Vocational Nursing curriculum is designed to prepare students to practice intelligent care at the bedside, to assist in the rehabilitation of the sick and prevention of disease, and to prepare the students for their role in the community as contributing citizens, according to the basic principles of health and nursing. The Vocational Nursing curriculum is accredited by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners. Graduates of this program are eligible to apply for the California state examination to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).

The Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission approves the nursing program, and the program is accredited by National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation. Students who complete the two-year associate degree program are eligible to take national board exams for registered nurses. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in applied and social sciences and an understanding of the fundamentals of patient care in a variety of settings. Throughout the program, students integrate experience caring for patients in acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, and community agencies. Successful completion of this program leads to an Associate in Nursing, Direct Transfer Agreement/Major Related Program (DTA/MRP). Students with this degree need only to complete senior-level courses at select universities in the state of Washington to achieve a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The Nursing Program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA, The Watergate, 2600 Virginia Ave, NW, 8th Floor, Washington, DC 20037).

As a nursing associate, you'll deliver hands-on care to patients. You'll work alongside healthcare support workers (holding a care certificate) and fully qualified registered nurses, bridging the existing gap between the two roles.

The nursing discipline is characterized by its emphasis on evidence-based practice, where nurses utilize current research and clinical guidelines to inform their care decisions. This scientific foundation supports the delivery of safe and effective care, ensuring that nurses are equipped to respond to the complex needs of patients.

The Family Nurse Practitioner is designed to expand the knowledge of the nurse as it relates to the role of the family nurse practitioner and advanced nursing practice. Family nurse practitioners serve as the primary health care providers in many diverse practice settings including, but not limited to, private medical offices, health clinics and acute care settings.

The College of San Mateo Nursing Program provides students with opportunities for learning at the College, local hospitals, and related health agencies. Clinical practice begins early in the first semester. Upon graduation, the candidate receives an Associate in Science degree and is eligible to take the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX). The graduate is also eligible to transfer to a four-year nursing program.

The Nursing (NURS) program at Skagit Valley College (SVC) offers a Registered Nursing, AAS degree for nurses who have graduated from a PN program and have a current Washington State unencumbered LPN license. The LPN to RN focuses on the second year of Registered Nursing courses.

The Ohio University Post Graduate Adult Gerontology-Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP) Certificate is for those who already hold a Master's degree in nursing and seek to attain the advanced practice role of the AG-ACNP. The 20-credit program features track-specific content that meets the core competencies and clinical hour requirements for AG-ACNP's set forth by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and can lead to specialized advanced practice certification eligibility.

The Nursing program is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing. This program is designed to prepare students for beginning positions in Registered Nursing. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the state licensing examination for registered nurses. The course of study includes instruction in applied nursing sciences, related natural and social/behavioral sciences, and clinical nursing experience in hospitals and healthcare facilities located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Doctor of Nursing Leadership program offers an in-depth exploration of advanced nursing theories, research methodologies, healthcare policy, leadership theories, organizational behaviour, economic principles, ethical considerations, quality improvement, strategic planning, and evidence-based practice.
