50 Neuroscience Preparatory Programs

An introduction to the biological basis of behavior and cognition. Includes theoretical and practical foundations rooted in psychology, biology, neuropharmacology, and clinical sciences (e.g., neurology and neuropsychiatry).

This two-week-long summer school aims to provide a comprehensive, interdisciplinary understanding of neurodegenerative diseases, blending scientific rigour with practical applications. By engaging with cutting-edge research, real-world case studies and practical lab tours, participants will gain invaluable insights into the complexities of neurodegenerative diseases, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to care and research. In addition, students will obtain valuable skills in critical and constructive thinking. Also, students will learn how to translate obtained knowledge and ideas into a high-quality presentation with students from various backgrounds.

This course combines a theoretical framework with a dominant practical component for the central theme of Neuroscience Applied to Consumption, thus allowing each student to identify the potential of behavioral analysis, psychophysiological and electrophysiological data, applied to the context of consumption or interaction with individuals of consumption. The course comes with a dynamic and innovative engine to be integrated into existing practices in companies, and combined with more traditional market studies, the course content will be complementary and will motivate structural changes in companies and partners. It aims to show participants the importance of applying neuroscience in the context of business strategy, product creation, pricing strategy, distribution and communication. With this course, trainees will change their state of mind regarding the strategic interventions to be applied in companies, they will understand the importance of identifying and reacting to stimuli, and then adapt and create products, campaigns, prices, websites or packaging capable of involving your customers.

Whether from the sharp bite of a stubbed toe, the dull throb of an aching muscle, or progressive disease discomfort, pain acts as a natural defense mechanism to protect both humans and animals. It is critical for survival. Pain also serves as a warning against repetitive, harmful behaviors. It's a signal to seek attention and relief since uncontrolled pain can have chronic and debilitating consequences. This course introduces basic pain concepts, pain pathways, and their underlying neurobiology. Topics will incorporate diagnosis, symptoms and presentation, and treatment using pain experts across the medical field-- such as physicians, veterinarians, dentists, and pharmacists. The course will introduce scientists and clinical researchers, and highlight their work.

Non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) is a powerful tool which can be used to ask questions about cause-and-effect relationships in the brain of healthy and pathological populations. It can also be used as a treatment in various psychiatric and neurological conditions.

The enigma of Consciousness is perhaps the most fascinating mystery in the Universe. There are many hypotheses, on the basis of which we try to give an answer to the most difficult problems but, wanting to schematize, all can be traced back to two broad categories: those who consider Consciousness entirely reducible to the electro-chemical-physical processes that take place in the brain, and those who acknowledge that Consciousness has an intrinsic existence, independent, at least in part, from its physical substratum.

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist program focuses on assessing neurological disorders using diagnostic techniques. You’ll receive hands-on training in clinical rotations in Electroencephalography, Nerve Conduction Studies, Evoked Potentials, Polysomnography, and Intraoperative Neuromonitoring, promoting practical experience.

Neuroscience at Trinity involves faculty from the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Philosophy, and Psychology. The major is designed to give students a fundamental grounding in the sciences, and the flexibility to direct their studies towards cellular/molecular, systems/behavioral or cognitive/clinical aspects of neuroscience. A major in neuroscience can lead to a career in scientific research, the health professions, education, business, law, or government. The Trinity major also prepares students for further study in graduate school and medical school.

Neuroscience is a highly interdisciplinary field that spans the study of everything from single molecules to brain-wide circuits. The Sewanee neuroscience curriculum is designed to provide a fundamental understanding of cellular /molecular, behavioral, and cognitive approaches to exploring the brain. Flexible electives allow our students to expand their training into many related fields, including biomedical and health sciences, computational modeling, chemistry, and philosophy.

The Behavioral Neuroscience minor is an interdisciplinary minor designed for students with an interest in neurology from both a biological and psychological perspective. The curriculum provides foundational knowledge and practical experience related to neuroscience that can serve as additional preparation for careers in clinical, counseling or neuropsychology as well as for vocations in veterinary, medical, or other health-related areas.

Following core courses in neuroscience, students explore subdisciplines such as cognitive neuroscience, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, learning and behavior, and perception. All neuroscience students engage in experiential learning in research or community settings and learn how to effectively write about and present their neuroscience findings.

Neuroscience at Colorado College is an interdisciplinary investigation into the structure and functioning of the nervous system. Students who major in Neuroscience gain familiarity with experimental approaches in neuroscience from molecular to behavioral, and they learn to critically read, write about, and discuss primary literature in neuroanatomy, neuropsychology, neuropharmacology, and neurophysiology.

The M.S. in Cognitive Neuroscience at the Graduate Center is a multidisciplinary program that focuses on the biological bases of cognitive functions, including perception, attention, memory, language, and decision making. The M.S. Program in Cognitive Neuroscience at The Graduate Center – the only program of its kind in the United States – is excellent preparation for further doctoral study. This affordable master’s program also positions you to meet the increasing demands of today’s fast-growing careers in health, technology, business, and education.

Neuroscience is the study of nervous systems, touching diverse fields such as biology, psychology, biochemistry, philosophy and computer science. Students of neuroscience are also diverse. For example, some students are primarily interested in questions of how consciousness arises from the human brain, while others become fascinated with the inner workings of individual nerve cells, and still others with the development of these complex neural systems. Neuroscience students at Smith receive excellent preparation for a wide range of careers, including research, medicine, biotechnology, pharmacology and more. The breadth of neuroscience encourages learning about many areas of science.

Neuroscience is the interdisciplinary study of the relationship between the brain, the mind, and behavior. It is available as a minor at Gettysburg College. Oversight for the Neuroscience minor is provided jointly by the Biology and Psychology departments although any student can minor in Neuroscience.
