Paralegal Studies is an associate degree program intended to train a generalist paralegal. Graduates from the associate degree program will have a strong foundation in the areas of legal research and writing, contracts, torts, criminal law and property law.

The Associate of Science in Administration of Justice: Legal Studies Emphasis course of study is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in municipal and county law enforcement agencies (i.e. police or sheriffs departments), and/or to transfer to Bachelor's degree programs in Criminal Justice or related fields to prepare for federal or state-level law enforcement positions (i.e., FBI, DEA, INS, etc.)

There is a growing need for trained paralegals who know substantive law and administrative procedures required by the law and the court systems. The paralegal performs various legal tasks under the supervision of attorneys, including conducting legal research and drafting legal documents. Paralegals provide staff support for attorneys in a law office or in a legal setting. Many of these tasks are done by attorneys; however, under the law, they could be provided by paralegals under the supervision of an attorney. The Associate in Arts degree in Paralegal Studies will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the Major course requirements and the General Education requirements.

Associate in Science in Administration of Justice for Transfer (AS-T) The Associate in Science in Administration of Justice for Transfer (AS-T in Administration of Justice) is designed to provide a clear pathway to a CSU institution for students who plan to transfer and complete a CSU major or baccalaureate degree in Administration of Justice. The Associate in Science in Administration of Justice for Transfer (AS-T in Administration of Justice) is an innovative social science program that emphasizes critical thinking about corrections, crime and delinquency, legal studies, and working with diverse communities. This multidisciplinary program explores the connections between law, crime, and justice.

The Associate of Applied Science degree, Paralegal is approved by the American Bar Association and designed to train students for careers working as paralegals or legal assistants in law firms, governmental agencies, corporate legal departments, public service organizations, and other institutions. Paralegals work under the supervision of an attorney and are not licensed to practice law.

This course of study is designed to prepare students for a career in law (i.e. legal assistant, court reporter) or a law enforcement-related field and/or to transfer to Bachelor’s degree programs in Law, Criminal Justice or related fields and/or to qualify for admission to law school.

The Law and Society Program involves the study of law and legal systems as they relate to the larger societies of which they are a part. While the program is of special interest to students who plan careers in government service or law, many of the majors simply share a desire to understand the role of law in society.

This program prepares individuals to perform research, drafting, investigatory activities, record-keeping, and related Paralegal administrative functions under the supervision of an attorney in a law firm, public or private entity, and/or within a courtroom setting. This includes instruction in legal research, drafting legal documents, appraising, pleading, courthouse procedures, and legal specializations.

The law and society major seeks to understand the nature of law and legal institutions from a variety of perspectives. The major is interdisciplinary with major responsibility in the Political Science Department and electives offered by the Administration of Justice Department. The program is designed to benefit both those who desire a liberal education and the student who intends to enter graduate or law school. The major provides preparation for transfer into four-year colleges and universities, especially the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Using case studies and real-life examples, this free course will give you a strong understanding of the legal system. This free online course in Diploma in Legal Studies will provide you with simple definitions and clear explanations of important legal concepts, different types of laws, and how laws are created.

The School of Justice Studies (which houses the Administration of Justice Program) strives to provide our students with the legal, ethical, and educational background necessary to pursue a career in a criminal justice-related field and to successfully transition into a 4- year academic program. The criminal justice system is a diversified occupational area with available employment opportunities on the federal, state, and county levels: Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Border Patrol, California Highway Patrol, municipal police departments, county sheriff's departments, federal and state departments of correction, probation, and parole.

Students interested in pursuing a legal education are encouraged to attend Graceland. Accredited law schools in the United States require a bachelor’s degree for admission. They seek students who can analyze problems critically, who can reason logically, and who can clearly express themselves both in writing and aloud. Law schools admit students from a very broad range of majors.

The paralegal program is intended to prepare students for employment as paralegals in both the private and public sectors following graduation. The American Bar Association (ABA) By-Laws Section 21.12 uses the terms paralegal and legal assistant interchangeably referring to persons who, although not members of the legal profession, are qualified through education, training, or work experience and are employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, governmental agency, or other entity in a capacity or function which involves the performance, under the direction and supervision of an attorney, of specifically delegated substantive legal work.

This program is designed to help international law students and international lawyers improve their profiles through enhanced legal English and knowledge of the U.S. legal systems, dispute resolution, business and corporate law. The program also helps build the confidence and lawyering skills that many prospective employers are seeking from potential employees. Through this program, participants will learn from Moritz College of Law’s faculty experts as well as judges and practitioners working at federal courts and global law firms in Columbus.

The Business Administration program gives students general business knowledge in managerial controls, economics of business, human resource management, labor relations, business risks, interaction of government and business law, production and distribution. The program provides students with a general understanding of the foundational areas of business specialization, including accounting, finance, economics, marketing, management, and entrepreneurship.
