7 Legal English Preparatory Programs

In this course, you will be introduced to the American judicial and legislative systems. You will become familiar with legal terminology, learn how to analyze cases, and also understand how legal documents are composed. Topics include the history and origin of US Constitution and the Bill of Rights, an examination of key cases that have shaped US history and video observations of court proceedings.

Brooklyn Law School’s new Legal Language Institute was established in recognition that the globalized legal community conducts business in many languages and requires an understanding of different legal cultures.

Four-week, summer introduction to U.S. common law and U.S. legal research, writing and analysis, and an opportunity to improve legal English language skills.

Paralegals are trained specialists who perform a wide variety of legal tasks under the supervision of an attorney.

This program is focused on improvement in grammar skills with a multi-skills focus on reading, writing, and communication skills essential in an academic setting. A review of English grammar through intensive written and oral practice to promote accurate and appropriate language use for students who have already studied grammar to basic level and need to refine the ability to produce acceptable academic English.

The Court Reporting Program is designed to provide students with the academic foundation and technical training to be certified shorthand reporters. The program prepares students to take the California Court Reporters’ Board examination for certification.

This program is designed to educate and train paralegals to work independently under attorneys' supervision in all areas of law. Graduates are prepared for careers in law firms, insurance companies, government agencies, title companies, banks, and corporations.
