This action-oriented course makes the most of the short-term study abroad environment by focusing on the situations that students encounter while in Japan.

In this class, you are going to acquire the reading and writing competence required to study in Japan in two years. In the first year, you are going to do reading exercises through short stories and sentences so that your way of speaking Japanese sounds natural. This course is also designed to allow you to completely understand Japanese sentences.

Make Japan a part of your academic plan by studying abroad for the summer. While at JCMU, you will immerse yourself completely in the Japanese language and culture and learn an entire year's worth of college-level Japanese each semester. There are no language prerequisites, though: we offer beginner-level courses all the way through to advanced. You will get the chance to participate in a wide range of classroom activities, including practice with a Japanese student and sitting in on a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Through this, you will find that your ability to utilize Japanese on a day-to-day basis in Hikone will increase exponentially.

One in five people in the world are Chinese and it is without a doubt that the most widely-spoken language in the world is Chinese. China has rapidly transformed itself from being “the factory of the world” to “the market of the world”, and is regarded as one of the most significant overseas locations. To secure human resources for these purposes, personnel with not only the ability to communicate in English but also in Chinese are constantly in demand. As China increases its presence on the world stage, it is an urgent task for Japan to engage with China and learn more about the country.

France is the world capital of fashion, the arts and food culture, a leading EU nation, as well as a country with an enormous influence on the global arena. French, the national language of France, is used as one of the official languages in various international institutions including the United Nations. Looking at the global arena, it goes without saying that those who are proficient both in English and French will be of inestimable value.

The Japanese Language Program, offered by the Center for Japanese Language at Waseda University, is a one-year or half-year program to study Japanese language intensively. Through various courses provided in different levels, skills and themes, students can study Japanese language according to their own abilities and goals. Waseda University offers a comprehensive Japanese Language Program designed to help students achieve proficiency in Japanese. The program caters to a wide range of proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced, ensuring that each student receives instruction suited to their current skills.

We have Japanese High school department, also Design department on campus, you can make friends with Japanese students in our college in everyday life. The application period for next intake, April 2020 program is from September 1st to October 30.

Drawing upon our vast experience in combining language and culture in multi-level classes, this course provides an opportunity to experience Japanese culture first hand with Japanese students.

This is a two-week summer program for international students from our partner universities. The program includes: - Six 90-minute Japanese classes - Workshops for traditional arts & crafts - Historical and cultural tours

JCMU's intensive Japanese language programming allows students to study 10 credits of college-level Japanese per term. Courses are offered at levels 1 (beginner) through 4 (advanced). No prior Japanese language study necessary to apply.

The program aims to provide opportunities for students to study Japanese culture in English. By doing so, students will explore Japanese history, tradition, custom, and ways of thinking from new perspectives, reconsidering what they had previously taken for granted.

To increase Japanese language abilities required for college education, and to deepen understanding of contemporary Japanese society and culture. In first semester classes, social problems will be introduced by the instructor; students will take turns presenting these problems and discussing them together. In the second semester, students will consider problems of contemporary Japanese society in comparison with the present situation of their own home country.

Short-term Japanese Program is organized and run by the center for Japanese Language Waseda University. The goal of this program is to cultivate students’ overall Japanese language ability.
