The Associate of Arts in Journalism for Transfer provides a broad base of education in the discipline and introduces students to journalism and multimedia. It gives students the option of studying journalistic writing for traditional and online media. Completion of the degree provides students with the core skills and knowledge needed to pursue a baccalaureate degree in Journalism.

The Journalism program seeks to prepare students to enter the workforce in journalism and its related fields (such as public relations and advertising) and to offer opportunities to students making a career switch or needing to meet the changing technological demands of the field.

A major in journalism prepares students to employ ethical principles and practical skills in the presentation of their journalistic product to the public in print and online. Journalism majors excel in storytelling with text and in digital and video formats. As a journalism major, you will master the art of reporting and writing and learn about legal issues that affect the media. Through this program of study, you will be able to demonstrate an applicable knowledge of the principles of ethical and socially responsible journalism. The Associate in Arts for Transfer (ADT) is intended for students who plan to complete a bachelor’s degree in a similar major at a CSU campus. Students completing these degrees(ADT) are guaranteed admission to the CSU system, but not to a particular campus or major.

Students learn a framework for decision-making in the real estate investment and finance fields. Specifically designed to offer students interested in real estate careers a foundation upon which to build.

The Communication Arts major at Delaware County Community College blends the theoretical with the practical by providing students with a foundation in the study of human communication that prepares them to continue academic study in the field. The Journalism option is designed for students who wish to continue academic study in journalism, public relations, and/or mass communication.
