The International Summer School in Athens: Ancient Polis / Modern Metropolis gains an integrated understanding of Athens as a dynamic palimpsest of history, heritage, and urban life. Participants select a topic for an individual or team research project, developed in consultation with instructors.

The "Study in Crete (SiC)" study abroad program offers students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the civilization of ancient Greece and ancient Crete, in particular. The program combines theoretical instruction with field visits to archaeological sites, museums, and cultural centres.

The Summer Session of the ASCSA is an intensive introduction to Greece from antiquity through the modern period. The program has provided the most extensive exposure to Greece, ancient and modern, for generations of students of Classics and related fields. It has a strong academic component with participants researching and presenting topics on-site and offers unique opportunities to interact with eminent archaeologists in the field.

The Regular Member program runs the full academic year, from early September to early June. It is an integrated participatory program offering advanced graduate students, from a variety of fields, an intensive survey of the art, archaeology, history, and topography of Greece, from antiquity to the present. Regular Members are expected to be in residence in Athens throughout the nine-month academic year. Students receive comprehensive training through visits to the principal archaeological sites and museums of Greece as well as in seminars led by resident and visiting scholars. They also take part in the training program at the Corinth excavations.

The Summer Seminars of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens are 18-day sessions designed for those who wish to study specific topics in Greece and visit major monuments with exceptional scholars as study leaders, and to improve their understanding of the country’s landscape, history, literature, and culture.
