Exploring both traditional and digital photography, you will produce work which will show your development and understanding of photography, learn how to use SLR/digital cameras, how the studio works, develop black and white film, darkroom skills and various Photoshop techniques.

Preferably you will be sitting or achieved your Higher Photography at the time of completing the course. If you have your own camera equipment this would be an advantage but not essential. If you have a keen interest in Photography your application would be considered. Other than that, a good eye and desire to stick lovely things in front of it.

We also recognise the importance of technology in enhancing photography, and thus we teach you how to use professional software, including Photoshop and Lightroom.

You will need to be committed to an intensive course of study and prepared to devote a lot of time to the production of high-quality work on this course. You will explore a broad range of processes and techniques, learning new skills in our fully equipped, state of-the-art digital photo studio as well as the traditional darkroom.

This course has been designed to develop your knowledge of current trends in photography, learn to interpret photo-imaging assignment briefs, consult with clients to refine objectives of photography assignments, select appropriate technologies and workflows to capture images, employ aesthetic, conceptual, compositional and technical skills to photo-imaging outcomes and allow you to gain exposure to a variety of shooting styles.

You’ll master using studio and natural lighting, cover depth of field, shutter speed, capturing motion, light temperature, lenses, digital image resolution, ISO and shutter speed, and how to focus the lens (auto, continuous, single etc.).
