The Engineering program at APU aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and build innovative solutions to real-world problems. The curriculum includes a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and engineering principles, as well as hands-on laboratory experiences and design projects, and is accredited by ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) for its excellence in engineering education.

Engineering Technology is the powerhouse department that combines training in composites manufacturing and mechatronics. Classes introduce students to materials science, composite materials, engineering design, mechatronics, and automation technology. Gain experience in hands-on state-of-the-art labs equipped with 3D printers, 3D scanners, injection molders, and robotic arms, along with equipment to test, construct, design, and build items both large and small. Capstone projects include fan-powered, radio-controlled robotic cars with printed and composite parts.

Electronic engineering technicians assist with research, evaluation, design, and quality control processes as well as the manufacturing and deployment of equipment for automation. This broad-based degree program will prepare you for many in-demand, high-paying career fields where you’ll evaluate and test products using measuring and diagnostic devices to adjust and repair equipment.

This degree is intended to prepare students to transfer to Washington’s public four-year colleges and universities and many private colleges with junior standing and the majority of the prerequisites for selected science, mathematics, and engineering majors completed. This degree partially fulfills the general education requirements as explained in the Associate of Arts, Direct Transfer Agreement, AA-DTA degree. This degree does not guarantee admission into the major.

The program emphasizes direct employment skills and provides a strong foundation in small to medium-scale network infrastructure. A Certificate is also available. Both the Certificate and Associate Degree are designed to develop entry-level careers and enhance existing careers.

The Engineering Studies Concentration at St. Olaf College provides students with an interdisciplinary understanding of engineering principles, practices, and methodologies within the context of a liberal arts education.
