This Foundation Degree aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the wide and varied social, political, and economic environments that community and public services operate within. You will have the opportunity to listen to, and network with, serving public service practitioners and members of other community and public service organizations through visits, volunteering, guest lectures, and work-based delivery.

If you're fascinated with law and crime and want to help at-risk people and communities, the Community and Justice Services program is for you. Facilitated by the School of Community and Health Studies, Community and Justice Services courses will help you to gain the expert knowledge and practical skills to work in diverse settings that address youth and adult populations that are at risk, currently incarcerated involved with the criminal justice system, or involved in rehabilitation programs.

Community Worker is a dynamic program designed to prepare you to work with individuals, organizations, and communities. You'll learn to work across a range of issues including social justice, poverty, housing, violence, food justice, immigration, and settlement in ways that are responsive to their multiple and changing needs. There is also an accelerated program stream available that is suitable for students with an existing diploma or degree.

The Community Social Services/Substance Abuse Associate in Arts (AA) Degree is designed to prepare students for employment in entry-level paraprofessional positions providing counseling, case management, crisis management, and relapse prevention services to substance abuse clients. The program also offers further training for persons already employed in the field.

The Diploma in Community Service is designed to build your skills, knowledge and understanding to work as a professional community services worker. The community service may include areas such as, mental health, homelessness, family and domestic violence, child protection, employment support, and migrant services. The Diploma of Community Services package is comprised of the two-year Diploma of Community Services course, with the option to progress to a Bachelor of Social Work with Honours at the University of Tasmania. TasTAFE teachers will negotiate and arrange work placements and or work placement projects with Community organizations for students.
