5 Brewing Preparatory Programs

This program is intended for those who are interested in starting a career in brewing, expanding their current brewing knowledge and practice, or considering opening a brewpub or microbrewery. The curriculum has been designed with direct input and participation by brewing professionals, owners of breweries and brewpubs, and distillers.

Massey University holds two-day brewing courses in both April and November. You'll get a comprehensive introduction to brewing, including malts, hops, yeast and the process of making good beers. You'll also design and brew two beers as part of the course using our 200L microbrewery. Enrolments are accepted throughout the year for these courses. Numbers are limited to 18 people per course.

This curriculum is designed to prepare individuals for various careers in brewing, distillation, and fermentation. Classroom instruction, practical laboratory applications of brewing, distillation, and fermentation principles and practices are included in the study program.
