The Art Department offers both an Associate in Arts Degree. Various required and elective courses focus on individual creative development and provide a broad range of classroom and studio experiences. Art courses fulfill requirements for transfer or prepare students for careers requiring competency in visual media.

Humanities, Philosophy, and Arts examine human values and experience within a wide range of cultures across the globe and over the course of history. Students will study, interpret, and evaluate classic works in architecture, art, literature, music, philosophy, religion, rhetoric, and the theater, and they will encounter questions to which there are multiple plausible answers. The study of language, philosophy, and rhetoric provides crucial tools for understanding and interpreting human knowledge and experience. Students pursuing the program in the Humanities, Philosophy, and Arts will enhance their skills in critical thinking and both oral and written communication. The Humanities, Philosophy, and Arts program prepares students for further study in the arts, history, humanities, literature, philosophy, communication studies, and/or world languages at a four-year baccalaureate institution and provides an excellent foundation for students interested in administration, communications, law, public service, and teaching.

The Associate of Arts degree will provide you with the academic knowledge and practical skills needed to successfully transfer to a 4-year college or university to earn your bachelor's degree. Its coursework prepares you for different areas of study, emphasizing the humanities and social sciences.

Skyline College's Art Program ensures a strong foundation in the visual arts. Enrolling in studio courses provides opportunities to explore the diversity of methods and materials to make art. Drawing, painting, photography, digital arts and other 2-d arts, 3-d media like sculpture and ceramics, studies in film and video, are all available to the student

This Certificate of Higher Education in Arts and Humanities provides a broad introduction to the arts and humanities, including history, art history, philosophy, classical studies, religious studies, music and English. You’ll expand your cultural horizons whilst learning to think and argue clearly.

This Diploma of Higher Education in Arts and Humanities encompasses a wide range of fascinating disciplines in the arts and humanities. These include art history, classical studies, creative writing, English literature, history, music, philosophy and religious studies. You can also combine your study of the arts with other options including English language, French, German or Spanish, science, technology, psychology, or social science.

The Art program is a skills-based curriculum that satisfies humanities distribution requirements, elective requirements, and foundation work required for most four-year art degrees. In each course, you will learn the principles of art and the historical context of the discipline.

Complete your Associate in Arts Degree, Direct Transfer Agreement (AA-DTA) while exploring your love of art.

This program teaches traditional Indigenous art forms as well as introductory-level theory and skills in various other fine arts and craft media. Students will learn traditional and contemporary Indigenous art forms such as beading, carving, footwear, sewing, and hide tanning, in addition to the cultural and historical significance of these art forms.

San Jose City College offers both an Associate in Arts (AA) and Associate in Science (AS) in Art degree. Students planning to follow a transfer pattern should use the Associate in Arts degree. This degree may not transfer to all universities, and students need to inquire of the universities if they have a bachelors degree for their upper division course work. The Associate in Science has 2 possible areas of emphasis: Drawing and Painting or Photography. A minimum of 3 courses in the Art major must be taken at San Jose City College. A grade of "C" or better is required in each course in the major and area of emphasis for graduation.

The Art Department is committed to the value of the arts to all academic studies and offers courses for both majors and non-majors. Students who intend to transfer should be aware that they may be required to present a portfolio of work. Your advisor can provide guidance for you to prepare the portfolio. Students who take courses in the department have the opportunity for their work to be featured in the Skagit Valley College Annual Juried Student Exhibition. Students can also receive credit for working with arts programs and organizations in the community.

The Indigenous Arts Diploma is a two-year program that focuses on developing the skills and knowledge to be a self-employed artist. In the first year of the program, students will complete the Indigenous Arts Certificate, which covers core Indigenous art forms and introductory-level study in various other fine arts and craft media.

The Associate of Arts General Studies Degree is appropriate for students whose primary goal is to earn a two-year college degree. It may be suitable for you if you wish to apply for credit by challenge, independent study, CLEP, professional/technical, or military programs to courses not included in the Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA) where applicable.

You will explore a variety of artistic courses and dive into Fashion, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, and Illustration. Developed by the Canvas School of Arts, the European Foundation Degree in Art & Design aims to let students create by having fun, travelling and learning a new language!

The art department introduces a diversity of students to the world of art with classes in studio art and art history. Our mission is to create courses to help you fulfill general education requirements, earn a degree in fine art, begin a career in art, or engage with artistic creativity as a lifelong learner.

The Associate in Arts in Studio Arts for Transfer (AA-T in Studio Arts) provides a clear pathway to a CSU institution for students who plan to transfer and complete a CSU major or baccalaureate degree in Studio Arts. California Community College students who are awarded an Associate in Arts in Studio Arts for Transfer (AA-T in Studio Arts) are guaranteed admission with junior standing somewhere in the CSU system and given priority admission consideration to their local CSU institution or to a program that is deemed similar to their community college major. This priority does not guarantee admission to specific majors or institutions. The combination of a liberal arts background with studio arts proficiency skills and practical experience will help students investigate and integrate their knowledge and perspectives in a modern, technologically changing world and will give them the background needed for careers in the visual arts, design, and related fields. Students who complete this program successfully will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the formal principles and elements of art making. Students will learn skills through tools, techniques, theoretical and historical aspects of visual art, culture, and critical analysis.
