The Associate in Arts in Art History for Transfer Degree is designed for students planning to transfer into the art history major at CSU. Students who study art history will explore the relationship between art and architecture, artists and aesthetics, and the cultural and social context in which the art was made. The AA-T in Art History provides students with a strong foundation in the terminology and principles of the visual arts, a cross-cultural examination of historical and contemporary art, and an introduction to the techniques and media of drawing. Students who successfully complete the AA-T in Art History earn specific guarantees for transfer to the CSU system: admission to a CSU with junior status and priority admission to a CSU campus and to a program or major in art history or a similar major.

If you want to enter the game industry as a 3D modeller or 3D artist, this program is for you. Instead of spending 2 to 3 years in a traditional course, MAGES gives you a focused 1 year pathway to build an impressive, industry ready portfolio. You will learn directly from industry professionals, including Kingston Chan (former Senior Art Director at FZD), and master the complete 3D workflow used in studios. By creating high quality characters, props, and environments, you will graduate with the skills and portfolio needed to enter the industry with confidence.

The Art Program at TCC provides students with a strong foundation in both Visual Art and Art History to help them attain their higher education and career goals. We offer Associate in Art and AA Art Specialization degrees. Both provide direct transfer with Junior status to a four-year university or college in Washington state. Once students have transferred, they can complete a Bachelor of Art or Bachelor of Fine Art to help further define their career in art. TCC’s Art Department offers classes in traditional media, digital arts, and art history. Our faculty are professional artists, art historians, and educators. We strive for an environment that encourages students to develop new skills; explore their creativity, and exchange ideas. To achieve this, we provide relevant and professional equipment in dedicated instructional spaces. We are committed to helping students learn, create, and think critically about the world around them, through a project-based curriculum.

Skyline College's Art Program ensures a strong foundation in the visual arts. Enrolling in studio courses provides opportunities to explore the diversity of methods and materials to make art. Drawing, painting, photography, digital arts and other 2-d arts, 3-d media like sculpture and ceramics, studies in film and video, are all available to the student

Kingston University’s accredited Foundation Diploma in Art, Design & Media Practice will give you the skills and knowledge you need to progress your studies to degree level. The online application will be available from November 2025 for the course starting in September 2026.

The Art Department at Laney College offers a wide variety of courses in both fine and applied art to meet student goals ranging from personal interest to prepare for transfer to four-year institutions or professional art schools.

The Art program is a skills-based curriculum that satisfies humanities distribution requirements, elective requirements, and foundation work required for most four-year art degrees. In each course, you will learn the principles of art and the historical context of the discipline.

The Associate in Arts in Art is designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in drawing, painting, design, digital art, and art history. The Associate in Arts in Art History for Transfer (AA-T) is intended for students who plan to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History at a CSU or UC campus. The AA-T incorporates studio practice in order to encourage a rigorous understanding of creative traditions and innovations. Students will explore the relationship between art, artists, the concept of aesthetics, and their sociocultural context. The AA-T prepares students for a future in Art History.

The certificate in Art History is designed for students who wish to pursue the study of the visual arts in a social, political, philosophical, and cultural context as a foundation for understanding human history and creativity. Completion of the certificate in Art History exposes students to the major stylistic periods of Western European and American Art and Architecture and provides a firm basis for continued study in the field of art history.

The Associate Degree in Fine and Applied Arts offers a wide variety of courses to acquaint students with the creation of and performance in the arts from a global perspective. The courses in this area examine the nature of the fine and applied arts through analysis, synthesis, composition, performance, and technical development. Students will develop techniques appropriate to the art form, engage in the production and performance of the arts, examine aesthetic valuing, and participate in creative expression. This area of emphasis is designed for students interested in exploring various art forms, including digital media, creative writing, dance, film, graphic design, music, photography, communication studies, television, theatre, video, and the visual arts.

The Associate in Arts Degree for Transfer in Art History is designed to acquaint students with the history of art. These courses help students understand varying forms of visual communication from around the world through studying social, political, economic, historical, and religious contexts.

The Associate in Arts Degree in Art focuses on visual literacy and provides students with the opportunity to develop skills that are needed to be successful in the visual arts. Students build both their artistic confidence and art portfolios while participating in rigorous problem-solving and conceptual assignments, while having flexibility in the media they explore.

The Associate in Arts in Art History for Transfer (AA-T in Art History) provides a clear pathway to a CSU institution for students who plan to transfer and complete a CSU major or baccalaureate degree in Art History. California Community College students who are awarded an Associate in Arts in Art History for Transfer (AA-T in Art History) are guaranteed admission with junior standing somewhere in the CSU system and given priority admission consideration to their local CSU institution or to a program that is deemed similar to their community college major. The Associate in Arts in Art History for Transfer provides students with the basics of art historical analysis, and completion of the program enhances students’ reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
