UC Davis' English for Science and Technology Program is an intensive program that helps students improve their technical English-language skills and learn to use English more confidently in the fields of science and technology. This program will also help international students understand what entrepreneurship is about. It is designed for international undergraduate and graduate students majoring in science, engineering and/or technology and adult professionals who want to improve their technical English-language skills.

This program is designed for students who desire a broad knowledge of liberal arts and sciences, plus additional coursework in an "Area of Emphasis." This program would be an ideal choice for students planning on transferring to the California State University (CSU) or University of California (UC), as the student may satisfy their general education requirements, plus focus on transferable coursework relating to baccalaureate majors at these institutions.

The Associate of Applied Science-Transfer (AAS-T) degree builds on the technical courses required for job preparation by including a college-level general education component. The distinguishing characteristic of the AAS-T degree is a minimum of 20 credits of general education drawn from the same list as those taken by students completing the Associate of Arts, Direct Transfer Agreement, AA-DTA, the Science, Associate in Science, Transfer Track #1 (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Geology), AS-T, and the Science, Associate in Science, Transfer Track #2 (Computer Science, Engineering, Physics), AS-T degrees.

The environmental studies program is an interdisciplinary program that concentrates on the identification of environmental problems and the analysis of the complex interactions of human populations with the earth. The program includes discussions of technology and how it impacts the environment. Program courses incorporate the concept of sustainable development, a form of economic development that encourages economic growth while at the same time improving the quality of life and preserving the environment. The capstone course is a Field Experience course where students apply classroom knowledge to a field environmental issue. Students in the environmental studies program can transfer to four-year environmental studies or environmental science program.

The Engineering and Applied Science (EAS) option emphasizes design (synthesis) as an essential part of every engineer's capability and aim to prepare students for research and professional practice in an era of rapidly advancing interdisciplinary technology. The EAS option offers students the opportunity to study in a wide variety of areas of sciences and technology, including concentrations in computation and neural systems, and material science. In addition, the option offers students the possibility of designing a customized course of study that has breadth, depth, and rigor similar to the concentrations above. The goal of the option is to combine individual depth in a particular engineering specialty and a strong background in the basic and engineering sciences, with laboratory and design, culminating in a capstone design experience. It strives to develop professional independence, creativity, leadership, and the capacity for continuing professional and intellectual growth.

The Associate of Applied Science Degree (A.A.S) degree prepares students for specific career/technical skills. The requirements for each major in the Associate of Applied Science Degree (A.A.S) are clearly shown in curriculum degree plans in the Dallas College catalog and are located under Career and Technical Education Programs.

The Associate in Applied Science with a Major in Radiation Protection Technology (RPT), also known as Radiological Control (RADCON), allows the student to develop the skills necessary to evaluate a worksite requiring radiological controls.

The Associate of Science (A.S.) degree at Lamar Community College provides a foundation in mathematics and the natural sciences.

The Digital Media program equips students with the skills necessary for the design of computer-generated applications and media. Areas include 3D animation and game design. The digital media program prepares students for employment in such areas as gaming, feature film, web design, video and commercial production, post-production, visual effects, and virtual and augmented reality. Students begin their training in classes in 2D and 3D fundamentals, imaging, and design. Students then study the aesthetic and design aspects of digital media with focused courses in graphic design, fine arts, and advanced imaging. This program transfers to the Bachelor's of Science in Media Arts in the School of Informatics and Computing at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).

The Land Surveying program prepares the student either for employment as a surveying technician or for transfer to a four-year degree program to become an Illinois professional land surveyor. Surveying technicians and professional land surveyors work in the fields of engineering, construction, land development, aerial photography, geographic information systems, agriculture, natural resource management, and government. Course work focuses on knowledge and hands-on skills needed for entry level employment and for professional licensing. All of the surveying courses offered in this program have been accepted by the Illinois Land Surveyors Licensing Board as meeting the requirements of the 24 credit hours required by the Illinois Professional Land Surveyor Act of 1989 and the Illinois Administrative Code as amended.

The Dental Hygiene Program prepares students to become part of the dental health team. The dental hygienist is responsible for providing such services as scaling and polishing teeth, taking radiographs, applying fluoride and surface sealants to the teeth, and local anesthesia and conscious sedation. The dental hygienist is the primary oral health educator in clinical and nonclinical settings. The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, American Dental Association. For state licensure, Graduates must successfully complete a National Dental Hygiene Board Examination and a Regional (clinical) Board Examination.

The Associate in Science degree includes courses from different disciplines to provide students with both breadth and depth of knowledge in science and math. Your studies will take place in laboratories and in the field.

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to explain the difference between evidence and theory in science and cite an example in their explanation.

With the assistance of the professional staff in career programs and departments, each student will develop a viable program of study during the first semester of enrollment at the college. This plan must receive approval of the assigned faculty mentor and the appropriate department chair(s). A unique aspect of this program is the awarding of credit for non-collegiate prior learning or work experience.
