The purpose of graduate studies in physics is to shape outstanding students into independent researchers, ready to take leadership roles in academia and industry. In this, the graduate program is significantly and essentially different from undergraduate studies, which are designed to give a solid basis for success in future scientific endeavors. Graduate school builds on this, first with advanced coursework, and then, most critically, with research directed by a faculty member in one of the active research frontiers of physical science. It is our mission and desire to convey the excitement and beauty of world-class creative research to our graduate students, and it is our goal that many will find their way into academia or become visionary leaders of the industry.

Master in Physics engages in Scientific research work, product designing, technology development, and management in the fields of artificial intelligence technology, optoelectronic information technology, optical communication, laser 3D sensing, etc.

Physics at Westlake University has developed rapidly in recent years.  Great progress has been made in theoretical physics, condensed matter physics, atomic and molecular, and optical physics, and there are plans to develop high-energy physics and astrophysics directions. Physics students receive solid training in mathematics and theoretical and experimental physics. They will develop a wide range of interests and skills through coursework, experimentation, and participation in academic seminars and academic presentations.

The M.Sc. program in Physics offers a thesis (research) track and requires two years of full-time study. Outstanding students may enroll in the combined M.Sc.-Ph.D. track during the 2nd year of their M.Sc. studies. The Department of Physics maintains an extensive research program in all the major fields of Physics, including Astrophysics, High Energy Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Electro-Optics, and Biophysics. Our graduates can be found throughout all the ranks of universities, research institutes, and industry in Israel.

Develop broad vision and intuition as you probe the principles and properties of matter, space, and time in our bachelor’s program in Physics. You’ll learn to make interdisciplinary connections between the branches of physics—high energy physics, astrophysics, atomic, molecular, and optics physics, condensed matter physics—and other scientific fields.

Each year, about 30 Master students begin their studies in the M.Sc program at the Racah Institute. The purpose of the master's program is to further develop knowledge and skills in physics and to prepare students for a professional career or doctoral studies. The program spans two years during which students take various advanced courses and carry out forefront research in the departments of Physics and Applied Physics.

The Department of Applied Physics (AP) focuses on five research areas: (1) Green Energy & Carbon Neutrality, (2) Machine Learning & Computational Physics, (3) Nanomaterials & Micro/Nanoelectronics, (4) Photonics, Plasmonics & Optoelectronics, and (5) Quantum Physics & Devices. Through our long-term drive for academic excellence, AP has achieved outstanding results, including publications in internationally renowned journals, awards by local and international institutes, patents, elected fellowships in well-recognised international academic societies, and grants from government and industrial bodies.

The Ph.D. program is a 4-year degree (sometimes extended to 5) in which students master a subfield of physics. Doctoral students perform research at the highest level, advancing the state of the art in their subfields. Upon successful completion, our Ph.D. students take their place among the nation’s scientific leaders, in both academia and industry.

Acquire a Major with a Secondary Major degree in 4 years This programme is a brand new Bachelor of Science programme of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). It cultivates students with knowledge spanning the disciplines of Physics and their chosen Secondary Major (AIDA or IE).
