The Contemporary Photography and Visual Culture course provides you with the essential skills and a comprehensive understanding of key concepts in photography, graphic design, and visual communication.

Bachelor of Arts in Photography. The photographer becomes an artist when he is provided with creativity, knows the technique, and adopts a multidisciplinary approach: a professional able to exploit his talent and operate dynamically in the world of image, exploring areas such as reportage, advertising, and fashion photography, photo book, fine art, video, and multimedia.

The Expanded Photography MA embraces photography as an expanded field, encompassing specialisms such as virtual photography, photobooks, documentary, art, fashion, editorial, photojournalism, and writing photography. This course will motivate you to learn skills, develop knowledge, and expanding expertise in the thinking and practice of photography.

Our one year intensive Honours degree offers you the opportunity to produce a self-directed body of creative practice work majoring in Photography, Illustration, Graphic Design, Multimedia, or Art Direction. In addition to Creative Practice, your degree also includes Visual Studies and Contextual Studies.

The study program of Photography aims to promote individual humanistic orientation, aesthetic perception, critical and creative thinking, social activity, freedom of communication and responsibility, develop the professional skills of a photography specialist based on traditional, alternative, and digital photography and innovations of professional activity in the various fields of application of the art of photography, and enhance the abilities necessary for organizing photographer’s activities considering the changes in the environment and perceiving the importance of lifelong learning.

The MA in Photography program provides professional practice and intensive study of the photographic medium. The core curriculum covers historical perspective, in addition to advanced theoretical and conceptual development in traditional, experimental, and digital photography capture, post-production, and output with a focus on the development of a signature portfolio in the student’s area of interest (Fine Art Photography, Documentary, or Art for Commerce).

Our Creative Voyage: Travel Photography & Videography Summer School goes beyond the camera lens, delving into the art of capturing culture, nature, and life itself. Over four transformative weeks, you’ll master photography and filmmaking essentials while exploring Bali’s stunning landscapes.

In the context of the digital revolution, our Master's in Documentary Photography serves as a convergence point between photography, art, information, and visual communication. We will explore the myriad possibilities that arise from blending the author's subjectivity with the demands of documentary practice.

The Photography program is a skills-based curriculum that satisfies humanities distribution requirements, elective requirements, and foundation work required for most four-year art degrees. In each course, you will learn the history of photography, techniques, and modern applications of both. Both traditional wet and contemporary digital labs provide broad exposure to an ever-changing discipline.

This program focuses on the principles and techniques of communicating information, ideas and emotion through digital and film photography. The goal is to prepare individuals for careers in photographic and hotographyrelated fields. This includes instruction in: camera operation and maintenance, use and maintenance of all photographically-related equipment, selection of camera equipment, digital and film media, printing media, film developing, light and composition, color and special effects, photography as art, the history of photography, and the use of computer applications to refine and organize photographic images.

Photography at Bath Spa University gives you space to explore, actively enquire, challenge and define the role of the photographic image. We’re committed to teaching the craft of photography. Analogue techniques are thoroughly explored and equip you to engage more proficiently with digital methods.
