The PhD in Production Animal Studies is a research degree. An appropriate Masters degree is required for admission, and additional requirements may be stipulated by the Head of Department. Topics are defined by the student in conjunction with the supervisor and Head of Department.

Our research function occupies a unique position in Africa. We have the largest number of clinical specialists on the continent, including many European and American certified specialists. Among other things, we investigate small animal and equine infectious diseases that commonly occur in Africa, as well as relevant anatomy, diseases and clinical conditions in African wildlife.

The PhD degree is conferred by virtue of a thesis.

Students accepted for this course are required to research, write and present a full thesis (approximately 220 pages), which contributes new knowledge to the field of English Studies. Specialist supervision is available in the following areas of study: South/ African Literary Studies and Post Colonialism; Renaissance and Romantic Studies; and Contemporary Fiction.

PhD Specialising in Soil Science

The PhD degree is conferred by virtue of a thesis.

The Department of Paraclinical Sciences is involved in numerous PhD programmes. At present students with a Masters degree may undertake in-depth studies in aspects of Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Toxicology, Veterinary Pharmacology, Veterinary Public health and Phytomedicine.

A PhD student must submit a thesis which provides proof of advanced original research and/or creative work which makes a real and substantial contribution to the field of knowledge and/or practice of the disciplines of architecture, urbanism, and interior architecture, or landscape architecture

Relevant MSc degree

This Program is coordinated in the Department of Plant and Soil Science. In addition to further theoretical studies as prescribed by the head(s) of the relevant department(s), the study will involve a doctoral research thesis under guidance of a supervisor selected by the head of department. The supervisor will be a member of the Faculty staff.
