University of Lodz Doctoral School of Social Sciences provides its doctoral students with a Doctoral Supervisor’s care and helps to obtain the knowledge necessary to obtain a PhD degree in Social Sciences. This doctoral program offers a space for advanced training in the field of studies on demographic aging and longevity through the scientific perspective of the Social Sciences. In this sense, it is configured as a cycle of studies that aggregates different disciplinary areas, seeking to capitalize on their similarities, but also their differences, in an approach focused on complementarities, which are assumed to be fundamental for understanding a multidimensional phenomenon such as demographic aging and longevity.

PhD by research via Distance Learning is awarded after successfully completing a theoretical research specialization. This research is presented in the form of a doctoral thesis. The PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) is the only doctoral degree that can be achieved through distance learning. The main requirement for a PhD online through distance learning is to present and discuss a thesis of at least 100 pages for review and evaluation by an academic committee at Selinus University. The Economic Sociology, Organisation and Labour (ESOL) PhD course aims to train PhDs with high-level skills from different disciplinary backgrounds that are essential to the study, management and regulation of economic, organisational and labour phenomena. The training is characterised by a strongly interdisciplinary approach, in which economic sociology is complemented by the contributions of labour law, economic-statistical and organisational-business disciplines, and behavioural sciences.
