The program is designed for students who wish to pursue a higher degree in the broad area of applied psychology within a framework of human lifespan development (human cognitive development and human career development) and with a research focus on cognitive development, decision-making, and mental health in the information age.

The PhD Psychology is a 36-month full-time research degree conducted under the supervision of a faculty member culminating with submission of a research thesis.

Psychology offers full-time and part-time M.A. and Ph.D. by research. Students in the programme will be situated in an opportune position to explore and choose from a wide array of research areas that the school endeavours in. From infant to elderly populations, from qualitative to neurobiological techniques, we offer extensive research prospects in social, developmental, clinical, cultural and bio-psychological fields.

Teaching and research in the Department of Applied Psychology cover many exciting areas, including occupational health psychology, counselling psychology, applied social psychology, cross-cultural psychology, cognitive psychology, and human-computer interaction, etc.

The Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology degree is a research higher degree. This research postgraduate program equips graduates with advanced knowledge of research methods and the skills to independently conduct research in many areas of behavioral science. Students conduct original research that extends the frontiers of knowledge in a specialized area of Psychology. As a result of acquiring the abilities needed to undertake independent research graduates will also develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills that can be applied in their future learning and work environments. Completion of the program allows students to become experts who are able to facilitate and contribute to the advancement of Psychology. This is a required qualification for people who wish to go onto a career as an academic or independent researcher in Psychology.

The all-English Ph.D. program in Cognitive Sciences (CS) at National Chung Cheng University (CCU) is a new doctoral program, formally established in 2013, created by the joint efforts among faculty members of Center for Research in Cognitive Sciences, Department of Psychology, Graduate Institute of Linguistics, Department of Philosophy, Graduate Institute of Education, Department of Electrical Engineering, and Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering.

The master’s and doctoral program in Psychological Science uses English as a language of instruction. Our program’s mission is to develop world-class researchers who advance the frontier of psychological science as well as practitioners who apply sceintific knowledge to make differences in the contexts where insights into human behaviors are needed.
